Roman Potter
During Roman times Potters were very important as there were no factories to produce cups, plates, pots and jars. Every item had to be handmade using clay and a potters wheel.
The table is turned by the potter spinning the large stone wheel with his foot.
The potter wets the clay to keep it soft enough to mould.
The pointed shaped vases are called amphora. They are used to hold oil, grapes, fish, wine and other commodities.
