Kingston Police Community Volunteers Recruit Services of Local Business Victoria Business Assists Efforts to Locate Missing Persons VICTORIA (NOVEMBER 21, 2011) Rolex Plastics, a print shop and bindery, in Victoria, BC has pledged to aid the Kingston Police Community Volunteers by donating approximately 70 binders that will be used during a training course for locating missing individuals. As a troupe of fully uniformed volunteers, the Kingston Police Community Volunteers assist local police in tasks that range from security patrols and emergency street closures to missing person searches and crime scene investigations. These individuals respond day or night, whenever they’re needed. Their assistance is vital to helping local police serve and protect the community, but like many volunteers their budget only covers operating costs. Much of the gear and safety equipment used by the volunteers is obtained through donations. When the opportunity to participate in an intensive course that focuses on locating missing persons recently presented itself, Chris Phelan, equipment manager for the Kingston Police Volunteers, contacted Rolex Plastics in Victoria, BC. The request was 70 custom binders, each imprinted with the logo and name of the Kingston Police Community Volunteers, so everyone would have easy storage and access to valuable study materials. “The request was so compelling I decided to grant their wish,” says Rolex co-owner Steve Fisher. “We understand these volunteers provide an important and vital service to their community, and we wanted to help.” In a thank-you note to Rolex Plastics, Chris explained, “these binders will be used to keep our training information for a recent course (and future courses) on Search & Rescue. A well trained group may mean the difference between life and death when it comes to a missing person.” Like all Rolex products, the binders were fully manufactured in BC. Rolex took care of design, production, text, index tabs, collation, and assembly before the binders were shipped to Kingston. “It is great to see a company like Rolex Plastics & Printing willing to step up and aid a group of volunteers like ours,” says Chris. “We wish them great success in the future.” PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release -30- For more information or to schedule an interview, please contact Steve Fisher at 1-888-478-5553 or [email protected] # 2-2745 Bridge Street, Victoria BC V8T 4T1
