Introduction
The use of presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses (IOLs) has increased over the years
Peer-reviewed literature shows that patients are highly satisfied
Online health forums seem to show otherwise
Is there a difference in satisfaction rates among males and females?
Are satisfaction rates in males and females affected by type of multifocal IOL implanted?
Purpose
To evaluate the role of gender in patient satisfaction after routine cataract extraction and multifocal IOL (MIOL) implantation
Methods
Retrospective chart review
Patients who underwent bilateral cataract extraction and implantation of a multifocal IOL
Telephone survey
Overall satisfaction, distance, intermediate, near, and night vision satisfaction were assessed using a scale from 0 (very dissatisfied) to 10 (highly satisfied)
Subjects were divided based on gender
Further analysis was done according to the lens implanted
