PRESIDENTSMESSAGE
It is my privilege to serve as your
2014 ICRI Rocky Mountain Chapter
President. As a non-profit organiza-
#on, our chapter thrives on par#cipa-
#on from its members. I am truly
proud to say our member par#cipa-
#on is very strong through the first
quarter of this year. There are so
many things going on within our or-
ganiza#on from the successful kickoff
of our long awaited community out-
reach program to our technical pro-
grams to our very popular golf tour-
nament and clay shoot to many other
new goals we set that are currently
being worked on for this year. Our
chapter is off to a great start to what
is shaping up as another great year!
We have set several goals this year
that will truly propel our chapter into
next year and the years to come.
Our goals include kicking off our com-
munity outreach program, determin-
ing where we go in 2015 with this
program, start our very own chapter
website to benefit our members and
reach out to non-members, increase
membership 5-7% along with having
a special membership drive event,
develop a half-day or full-day semi-
nar, and put together a joint program
with our local chapter of ACI concern-
ing the new ACI 562 repair code and
notes. As you can see we have made
some big goals this year, but even if
we don’t accomplish all of them this
year, we are building a good pla5orm
of things to look forward to in the
upcoming years! If you have interest
in helping us develop and achieve any
of these goals, please reach out to
me or someone else on our board of
directors.
As you all know, our community out-
reach program effort comes to a
close as April begins. April will propel
us into the first of our two spring pro-
grams. We are also looking to have a
membership drive event this spring.
Our golf tournament will follow in
July and it has also changed venues
this year. We will con#nue to push
all our goals during this #me and I’ll
update everyone in our next news-
le7er.
If you have any ques#ons about what
is going on with our chapter, please
do not hesitate to contact me at 303-
431-6100, or e-mail me at
sneff@mar#nmar#n.com.

MEMBERSHIPDRIVE—COMINGSOON!
We are always looking to grow our chapter. This year we are
looking into having a bowling event membership drive. This
event will provide an opportunity for members to invite po-
ten#al future members to par#cipate. We encourage you to
bring someone and consider even paying for them if you can.
Currently this event is being considered to be held in May.
Please come out and join our chapter for this fun event.
Watch for an open registra#on no#fica#on coming soon!
2014GOLFTOURNAMENT—GAMEON!
Time to switch things up! Steve Williamson and Kim
West, who head up our golf commi7ee, have
worked hard since last year to see how we can im-
prove our already highly popular annual chapter
event. As a result, we are changing our golf venue
this year to the Black Bear Country Club in Parker,
Colorado.
All of you should have received a “Save the Date” e-
mail for this event. The golf tournament will be
held on Friday, July 18th, 2014 from 7 am to 4 pm.
Watch for more informa#on and open registra#on
CHAPTERWEBSITE
We are in the early stages of looking into developing our very own chapter website.
Currently the na#onal website (www.icri.org) allows you to get to our chapter page
where you can see a member list, any past posted newsle7ers along with other infor-
ma#on we may feed to the na#onal website. As useful as this is, current members typi-
cally do not think to go there for chapter informa#on and it is limited in what we can do
with it.
Our very own website would become a central place for our Rocky Mountain chapter
members and visi#ng non-members to go allowing us to communicate easier with eve-
ryone about upcoming events, programs, and mee#ngs. Events could poten#ally be
posted and managed on the website with online registra#on and membership verifica#on during sign-up. Our web-
site could be linked to our Facebook page among other social media. The na#onal website would be linked for fur-
ther ICRI informa#on. The possibili#es of its use are endless and will only be limited by our involvement to update
and improve it. .
Look for further updates on progress of poten#ally developing a chapter run website that would propel our chapter
forward into mainstream media! If you are interested in helping develop our website, know someone that can help
us and/or are interested in being on the website commi7ee to get our website off the ground and help update it,
please contact Steven Neff.

KICKOFF!
On March 4, 2014, aRer all the plan-
ning and an#cipa#on, our Rocky
Mountain Chapter of ICRI proudly
held a kickoff event for our very first
Community Outreach Program at the
Denver Children’s Home (DCH).
ARer friendly introduc#ons of every-
one present and numerous speeches
by those closely involved in the pro-
ject, everyone proceeded outside for
a “first brick ceremony”. Rebecca
Hea, Execu#ve Director of DCH,
placed the first brick which officially
kicked off the repair work. Everyone
then walked the exterior of the
building to get a general tour of the
scope of repair work about to begin.
This program has required volunteer
efforts from Engineers, Architects,
Contractors and Material Suppliers
from the restora#on community. All
repair work was scheduled to occur
during the month of March and was
performed by volunteer workers
from restora#on and repair compa-
nies along with general volunteers
from the chapter. The planned pro-
jects for repairs at the DCH facility
included drainage improvements,
sidewalk replacement, exterior brick
façade repairs, exterior stair tower
stabiliza#on, and interior structural
repairs.
BACKGROUND
A li7le less than two years ago a con-
cept was presented to our board as
new business at one of our monthly
mee#ngs for our chapter to help fa-
cili#es with limited money in need of
repairs. The repairs would need to
be completed at no cost to the facili-
ty. A commi7ee was formed to re-
search this idea and see how we
could make it happen. This com-
mi7ee consisted of Randy Diner, Jake
Holland and Joe Kline who provided
the major efforts that brought us to
where we are today. ARer many en-
erge#c and enthusias#c discussions
in monthly mee#ngs the original con-
cept grew into a real program, the
Community Outreach Program.
DCH, located at 1501 Albion Street in
Denver, Colorado, was the first facili-
ty chosen for our Community Out-
reach program. The DCH started ser-
vice back in 1883 making it not only
Colorado’s oldest non-profit organi-
za#on, but also the first. DCH grew
out of its first building facility and
moved into its current loca#on in
1902 when the building was first
constructed. As a non-profit organi-
za#on, DCH has had limited money
over the years to maintain the build-
ing and with numerous repairs need-
ed over the years that the facility
simply cannot afford on its own.
Many of the repairs needed are in-
line with the type ICRI members do
in daily business and as a result it
was a good fit for the chapter to start
a program of this nature.
Stayed tuned for more updates and
informa#on on our Community Out-
reach Program in future newsle7ers!

Denver Children's Home has a long stand-
ing history of working with Colorado's
most vulnerable children and families:
those that struggle with the effects of
poverty, abuse, neglect, exposure to vio-

related to these experiences… Denver
Children's Home aims to help youth and

MESSAGEFROMREBECCAHEA
EXECUTIVEDIRECTOROFDENVERCHILDREN’SHOME
ICRI Rocky Mountain Chapter is a remarkable organizaon that recently came together to help the Denver Chil-
dren’s Home (DCH) with a massive renovaon project. DCH is the oldest nonprofit in Colorado and serves chil-
dren that have been the vicms of severe abuse and neglect. It is housed in 50,000 square foot facility that was
built in 1901 and is on the naonal historic registry. While community service and support have always been
integral to DCH’s mission, funds and resources for facility maintenance are o6en in short supply. Randy Diner,
Jake Holland and Joe Kline spearheaded a massive volunteer effort to complete crically needed and long ne-
glected repairs including tuck poinng brick, stabilizing a stair tower, improving concrete drainage, and replac-
ing sidewalks and wheelchair ramps.
The Community Outreach Commi9ee obtained pro-bono commitments from engineers, product vendors, con-
strucon contractors and material suppliers to complete this project. What has been truly inspiring is everyone’s
willingness to so generously donate their me, experse and products. For many of the children they serve, DCH
is the first safe and caring place where they have ever lived. To see the volunteers from ICRI working so diligently
to improve their home was a transformave experience for the children. They could not believe that adults cared
enough to do something so wonderful for them.
We teach children at DCH that it is everyone’s responsibility to make the world a be9er place. ICRI put this life
lesson into acon in a way that overwhelmed DCH staff and clients. ICRI’s generosity, teamwork, commitment
to community service have le6 a lasng legacy for DCH.
Gratefully,
Rebecca
