In 1996, brothers Mark and Chuck Larson founded Rock River Armsin an 1,800 square foot shop in Cleveland, Illinois. Mark and Chucktogether brought over 40 years of varied experience in the firearmsmanufacturing industry into their new endeavor. Rock River Armssoon developed a reputation as one of the finest builders of hand fit-ted custom 1911 pistols, and their NM frames and slides set newindustry standards for tight tolerances, fit and finish.

The brothers soon turned their manufacturing expertise and attentionto detail into producing custom .223 caliber "AR" style rifles. Their ini-tial focus on tightening up tolerances and improving the fit, finish andreliability of their rifles was rewarded as the Rock River Arms NM A2Rifle quickly gained popularity among high-power shooters.

Today, operating out of a state-of-the-art 23,000 square foot facility inColona, Illinois, the company is producing a full line of custom rifles,parts and accessories, all built with the same focus on providing thefinest fit, finish and function at a reasonable price.

The quality and reliability of Rock River Arms firearms continues towin new admirers. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) andFederal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) put a variety of different manu-facturers rifles through an exhaustive trials process, and based onthose trials awarded Rock River Arms with a 5 year contract as theirprimary supplier. Since that time Rock River Arms has received addi-tional federal contracts.

The RRA PPS Pistol is the first of a new generation of firearms employ-ing RRA’s patent-pending Performance Piston System (PPS). Employinga purpose-designed bolt carrier, an adjustable gas piston and an over-the-barrel spring and guide rod arrangement, the RRA PerformancePiston System is able to completely do away with the traditional recoilsystem associated with AR-style firearms, making for an extremely versa-tile weapon platform. Several exciting new models are scheduled forrelease in 2010, as well as specialized parts and accessories.

Full Length Top Mounting Rail The RRA PPS Pistol’s full length top mounting rail, from the rear of the receiverto the regulator housing, allows for the flexible placement of numerous optics, lights, lasers and other accessories.

RRA Half Quad Free Float with Full Length Top Rail

In addition to the upper half, certain other parts are required to com-plete the 9mm conversion. A lower half with standard (non match/2-stage) internal parts is required, and a 9mm hammer must beinstalled in place of the .223 hammer. The 9mm magwell conversionblock (which uses modified UZI magazines or Colt-style SMG maga-zines) is also required, if you are not using a dedicated RRA LAR-9™9mm lower half with integral magwell. If using a CAR length receiverextension (as used in RRA collapsible CAR stocks as well as Entrystocks), the 9mm buffer replaces the CAR buffer. If using the stan-dard receiver extension (as used in A1/A2 stocks and RRA non-col-lapsible CAR stocks), installation of the 9mm stock spacer, CARaction spring, and 9mm buffer is required. The RRA LAR-8 uses a unique receiver thread and barrel nutNo barrel nut (either separate or as part of a tubular handguard or quad rail handguard)except those made specifically for the RRA LAR-8 should ever be used on an RRA LAR-8 rifleor upper half. While some other barrel nuts may thread onto the upper receiver, the depth ofthread is incorrect and use of such a barrel nut not specifically made for use with the LAR-8(and identified as such by RRA) may expose the shooter to risk of injury or death.

The RRA LAR-8 uses a unique receiver thread and barrel nut. No barrel nut (either separate or as part of a tubular handguard or quad railhandguard) except those made specifically for the RRA LAR-8 should everbe used on an RRA LAR-8 rifle or upper half. While some other barrel nutsmay thread onto the upper receiver, the depth of thread is incorrect and useof such a barrel nut not specifically made for use with the LAR-8 (and identi-fied as such by RRA) may expose the shooter to risk of injury or death.
