1.3. Special installations (network installation) For the computers working in the network, installation of the Robot program network version is possible. There are two types of network installation:

1) Installation of the Robot program on one computer (full version of the program) with the use of network license. Installation of this type of network version consists of two parts: • Network license installation (see chapter 1.3.1) • Typical installation (see chapter 1.2.)

During the installation, in the license type selection window you should select: network license, and then give the name of a server from which Autodesk Network License Manager program will be starting (see chapter 1.3.3. points 12 and 13)

2) Installation of the Robot program in the “server - node” mode (full version of the program installed on the server, necessary program files installed on the users’ computers) This mode means that on one of the computers in the network Robot program’s server is created. On this server all the files shared by other network users are installed and stored. Whereas on the users’ computers (network version nodes) only files necessary to use Robot program on a given computer are installed. Installation of this type of network version consists of three parts: • Network license installation (see chapter 1.3.1) • Network server installation (see chapter 1.3.2) • Network node installation (see chapter 1.3.3).

1.3.1. Installation of Network license

Network license manager installation allows installing Robot program on many computers in the network with the use of one license. This installation needs to be performed on a network server. Obviously, the computer on which network license will be installed has to be “active” as each termination of its work means termination of network license’s work. Installation can be performed directly from a DVD by clicking Install Tools in the installation starting window and then selecting Install Autodesk Network License Manager option.

The Network License Manager is used to configure and manage the license servers. When creating a deployment, the Installation wizard prompts you for information about the license manager, such as license server model and server name. The Network License Manager is used to configure and manage the license servers. During the installation process:

1. Welcoming window appears in installation wizard; click Next to continue

2. Accept the default installation path (C:\Program Files\Autodesk Network License Manager\) or Browse to specify a different path. If you enter a path that does not exist, a new folder is created using the name and location you provide. Click Next. Warning: Do not install the Network License Manager on a remote drive. When you install the Network License Manager files, you must provide a path to a local drive. You must specify the drive letter; the universal naming convention (UNC) is not supported.

3. Click Next to start the installation 4. When the Installation Complete page displays, click Close.

How to Configure a License Server You configure a license server so that you can manage the Autodesk product licenses you received when you ran the Network License Activation utility. B. Node installation on a computer where network version server is not installed

I. INSTALLATION in automatic mode

Node installation in automatic mode means that first node installation is performed according to a special procedure allowing saving of the paths. After such installation a special shortcut is created which contains nodes installation parameters. This shortcut can be saved in a common place in the network or can be send to the users who are going to install Robot-node on their computers. Opening this shortcut on a selected computer will automatically install the node without necessity to give any paths, etc. To enable automatic mode installation, first node installation (on any computer in the network where Robot-node installation is planned) needs to be started according to the following stages: 1. Installation needs to be run from the command line with additional “-r” parameter. To do this, the

user should select Run option in Start menu and in a dialog box Run click Browse…; then select setup.exe file from “Install” folder created during server installation

2. After clicking OK a dialog box appears to choose an installation language, then click OK

NOTE: It is recommended to install the same language versions of Robot program in all the

network nodes. 3. Welcoming window appears in installation wizard; click NEXT to continue 4. Dialog box with Robot program LICENSE AGREEMENT appears; click I accept the terms of the

license agreement and installation will continue after clicking NEXT option 5. Dialog box enabling the entering of basic information about the user appears; enter user’s name

(initials), company’s name; click NEXT to continue 6. Dialog box appear to select installation type: network - node, allowing working in the network; click

14. Next, dialog box appears confirming the information entered so far (information about the user, program’s location, name, installation type, path to the server, etc.); click NEXT to start copying of the files

15. After finishing the installation, on the screen there appears a window of a group, where the

Automatic installation of Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis 2010 shortcut has been created (in the main folder of the network version server). The created shortcut should be sent to all users (or they should be informed where it is located) who should install a network version node. Installation of a network version node in the automatic mode consists in activating the shortcut to the installation in the automatic mode. Activating this shortcut on a selected computer will result in automatic installation of a node.

NOTE: Users should be given access without logging in to the computer where “Autodesk

Robot Structural Analysis – server”, the ‘Install’ folder as well as the “Common Data” and “Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Users” are installed

16. After installing a network version node the user may start work in the Robot program.

Robot program is launched by:

• double-clicking the icon of the system located in the Windows desktop • selecting Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis 2010 command in the Autodesk/Autodesk Robot

Structural Analysis 2010 group created during installation. Additional comments concerning the automatic mode A. Node installation in the automatic mode results in all nodes of the network version being installed

on the same disk and in the same folder; if on the computer where a network version node should be installed, there is no e.g. disk of the specified name, then an error occurs during installation
