Crew Briefing
Summon the Flight Attendant to the flight deck; “This is the Captain. Flight Attendant report to the flight deck immediately”
When referring to sides of the aircraft during FA briefing, crew are to refer to the “Captain’s side” or “First Officer’s side”.
The Captain must advise the Flight Attendant of (as applicable):
1. Type of emergency

Bomb Threat on the Ground Ladies and Gentlemen: This is Captain ………… speaking. A message has been received that an unaccounted for item may have been loaded onto the aircraft. Although we are convinced this is a hoax, in the interests of your safety we will be conducting a thorough search of the aircraft. An air crew member will supervise your disembarkation and direct you to a safe position. You must leave all your carry-on baggage and personal belongings on the aircraft and disembark as quickly as possible through the door through which you entered. You must follow all crew instructions and remain where directed by the air crew member.
Rapid Disembarkation While the Aircraft is Parked
Ladies and Gentlemen: This is Captain ………… speaking. Due to ………… [nature of the situation] we require you to disembark the aircraft as quickly as possible through the main boarding door. You must leave all your carry-on baggage and personal belongings on the aircraft and disembark as quickly as possible through the door through which you entered. You must follow all crew instructions and remain where directed by the air crew member.
Bomb Threat in Flight
Ladies and Gentlemen: This is Captain ………… speaking. We are returning to ………… airport [or diverting to …….. airport] at the request of our company and will give you further details immediately after landing.
Emergency Landing
Attention Attention! Listen Closely. This is Captain …………. We are experiencing ……….. [nature of difficulty]. This may make it necessary to carry out an emergency landing. The Flight Attendant will now instruct you in the necessary precautions. It is essential you remain calm and do exactly as instructed. We will keep you advised of any further developments.
Electronic Interference Ladies and Gentlemen: This is Captain ………… speaking. We are experiencing interference to aircraft systems. I require that all Personal Electronic Devices are switched off immediately and remain off for the rest of the flight.

Dangerous Goods Normal Procedures Checklist 1.
On Receipt of NOTOC, confirm freight is Passenger and Cargo aircraft suitable
2. Identify the ERG code for the freight stated on the NOTOC
3. Turn over Checklist to de-code the ERG code and review hazards associated with a spill or leak from the freight.
4. Brief crew on potential indications and hazards associated with a leak or spill
5. Carry NOTOC on flight deck
6. With inbound call to company at destination advise that you have consigned “Dangerous Goods on board” and ground staff acknowledge
7 Ensure details of NOTOC are passed on to new crew on same aircraft
Dangerous Goods Emergency Procedures Checklist 1.
Follow appropriate aircraft emergency procedure for fire or smoke removal
2. Confirm the “No Smoking” sign on
3. Consider landing as soon as possible
4. Consider turning off non-essential electrical power to reduce sources of ignition
5. Determine the source of smoke/fumes/fires
6. For dangerous goods incidents in the passenger cabin, follow the instructions on the lid of the Dangerous Goods Spill Kit (under last seat row)
7. Determine emergency response drill code
8. Use guidance from Aircraft Emergency Response Drills Chart (following page) to help deal with incident
9. If the situation permits, notify ATC of the Dangerous Goods being carried
After Landing 1.
Disembark passengers and crew before opening any cargo compartment doors
2. Take the NOTOC to inform ground personnel/emergency services of the nature of the Dangerous Goods on board and where items are stowed
3. Make an appropriate entry in the Aircraft Maintenance Log
