Differences also in the European OT congress, 2016 Galway, Ireland:

More than 900 participants, 710 presentationsOf those are only 32 from post- communistcountries ( post-Yougoslavian, Baltic states, Bulgaria, Poland) 12 European countries have no active participants. In two cases (Bosnia, Lithuania), co-authors are MDs, my

colleagues from PRM section – good example of collaboration.25 years of effort of West-European OTs to support OT development in post-communist

countries was succesful . But only partially.

How to continue in this effort?

Page 15: RIWC_PARA_ A129 User involvement to develop training for Occupational Therapists

DISCUSSION:Knowledge of respondents? – They are delegates of

their countries, they should know.

Reasons for striking differences between countries:Tradition? Education? Number of OTs

Table COTEC 2015:Number of OTs / 100 000 citizens

CR 9 Slovenia 16, Lithunia 10, Croatia 9, Latvia 6, Bulgaria 0,4 Not included: Poland, Romania, Hungary,Slovakia et al.

West-European differences: Denmark 145, Italy 2,7

Slovakia – Czech debt, we intend to support OT

Page 16: RIWC_PARA_ A129 User involvement to develop training for Occupational Therapists

ConclusionsConclusions and suggestions for OT and suggestions for OT development in CEE countriesdevelopment in CEE countries::

1) The combination between the support by entusiastic West European OTs

2) and also by local PRM doctors, who understand importance of OT and who can persuade local authorities to help by political decisions.

Next European OT congress will be held 2020 in Prague – centre of Europe.

Hopefully many active participants will be from Central and Eastern Europe and improvent of situation will be referred from several countries

e.g. Ukraine-LvovOccupational therapy is important for rehabilitation

of PwD – reason to collaborate with RI!

Page 17: RIWC_PARA_ A129 User involvement to develop training for Occupational Therapists

Comparison of 3 European networks:1) PRM physicians – CEE fully included2) OT organizations –CEE participating3) RI Europe – CEE nearly disappeared

Situation inside RI Europe: 2010 the last representative RI conference in

Copenhagen. 2014 European RI conference in Warsaw practically

cancelled. 2O16 – Present is well illustrated by RI General

Assembly and Congress in Edinburgh

My aim, how to support ideas of RI: Spread this ideas among European PRM physicians. Support development of OT in CR and in Europe Hope in positive development of RI Europe
