AnnualBull Sale
April 1, 2020 at 2pmMedicine Hat Feeding Co.3rd
Our family would like to once again welcome everyone to our 3rd Annual bull sale. We would also like to thank everyone that has been involved the past few years to help get things off the ground. Obviously, the most important thank you would go to our customers. We will never undervalue your business and truly appreciate you putting your trust in us to provide bulls for your use. It has been another exciting year for us. Our cow herd continues to increase in both numbers and consistency. We are very excited about the calf crop hitting the ground, as we believe these genetics will be as desirable as any. We were very fortunate to be a part of a group of breeders to secure semen on the $200000 record selling bull @ Hamilton Farms last spring in HF Alcatraz 60F. The future certainly seems bright, and as in case, we are continually striving to get better.
It has once again been a challenging year for producers. It seemed like no matter where you were, the weather seemed to be against you. Rather it was to hot and
dry, or moisture never ending, it looks like everyone can put 2019 behind them and look forward to 2020 with optimism. For us, it was obviously another dry year where grass and feed were limited. The cows came off pasture in good condition, and we are very pleased how they bred back and our conception rates. It seems in years like the last couple, it is easy to see the cows that can perform under harsh conditions and still be profitable.
This offering of bulls will be by far our most consistent and high quality group. We think there is a bull that can satisfy everyone needs. We still and always will believe it starts with the cow. We are extremely proud of our cow herd. We really are trying to emphasize foot quality, udder quality, fleshing ability, and docility. These cows need to have moderate birth weight calves that will go out and perform. We also think length of body in these cattle, and hair coat cannot be overlooked.
We would once again like to thank everyone behind the scenes including our family for help making everything run smoothly while we are away during the day, or weekends with the kids. We look forward to seeing everyone on April 1, 2020 @ 2:00 PM at the Medicine Hat Feeding Company. The bulls will be available for viewing the afternoon prior to the sale, or anytime between now and the sale at the ranch. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us weather it be phone, text, email or social media. We look forward to chatting with you soon.

928 is very deserving of earning the lot 1 title. He is flawless both in his pedigree and phenotype. From the ground up he has everything we are looking for in ours bulls, strong footed, lots of hair, and good performance. Bank Note has been of the hottest bulls in Canada, and has crossed very nicely with our cattle. The dam of 928 is one of our best. We continue to flush her and she continues to impress. She is a massive bodied female with a perfect foot, and a great udder.

A real standout all summer. From a very early age he had a look about him and visitors noticed. 913 is a cocky looking bull, with stoutness and great bone. As with the Bank Note progeny, he has an abundance of hair and great feet. We purchased the cow from Windy Hill Livestock as a top selling bred heifer that day. A maternal sister is featured in the Canadian Donors impressive line up.
Another very impressive Bank Note son. We like this bull a lot and everything he stands for. He is stout, soggy, and is going to make some awesome females. 472A was one of the best cows we have owned, and unfortunately we lost her last winter way to soon. We just calved out a full sister to this bull, and she certainly is at the very top of our bred heifer pen. She is an easy fleshing, tanky female with an awesome udder and a bright future. A maternal brother sold to Cactus Coulee. Take a close look at this bull, as he is the last one out of the great 472A.

Here is high performing bull that topped the class for weaning weight and continued near the top for yearling performance. 906 is maybe the longest bull in the sale. His dam was purchased in the Soo Line dispersal and has earned her keep selling bulls to Yester Years Ranching and another to Stuber Ranching. She is a cow offering a touch more frame, and has passed on her great feet to this son as well.
The last Bank Note son and out of a good young Upward daughter. Typical of the Bank Notes, another son with extra hair, capacity and good feet. The Bank Note calves are very consistent and we will continue to use him in our herd. 602 is a nice uddered, moderate made female we raised out of a good cow from Soo Line.

The lead off Upward son and he is a good one. We have used Upward the past few years to put some performance in our calves. 907 weaned off his dam with very respectable numbers and has continued to get better and better as he reached a year old. 907G is a very eye appealing calf, but the best part about him is his dam. 301 is a moderate cow, who is easy fleshing, has near perfect feet, and has an awesome udder. She raised the top Bandolier son last year, going to Ellis Ranching. The Brooking females have thrived in our herd, and believe these genetics will have a positive effect in yours as well.

A big performance bull with extra length and hair. 917 will sire a set of calves to be desired by buyers all over. If you are looking to add a little size and frame to your calves, have a close look. This son is very typical of the calves we have seen over the past few years sired by the world famous Sitz Upward. 71B was purchased from Ebon Hill and was one of our top picks out of their bred heifer pen. She has turned into a very deep bodied, powerful cow that passes on her performance. She is good uddered, great footed, and has an awesome temperment.
Another attractive bull that grabs your attention. He possesses a little more moderate of a frame for being an Upward son. He is stout made, has good bone, and thick curly hair. His dam is a hard working young cow, who weans a calf a large percentage of her body weight. She has a beautiful udder and is very pretty made. We sold a maternal sister to 602 this fall for $9000 and last year her first son sold to Horton Land and Cattle.
903 is built like a truck. He is a bull that is square made, big topped, and exhibits natural thickness. We havehad very good luck with the Earnan daughters producing high quality progeny. 682 is a moderate made young cow with a good udder and traces back to 345X in which we have retained 2 daughters from.

Here is a pair of brothers that came in at weaning looking the part. 283Z worked hard all summer raising these 2 on her own, as unfortunately we didn’t have another cow to orphan one on to. The dam has been a good cow for us, bringing a top calf in every year. A daughter sold to Remitall Farms and another was in our winning pen of heifers last year at the Oyen Beef Expo. These bulls exhibit an abundance of hair, good foot quality, and very quiet demeanors like their dam.
A son of a big bodied, good footed Bandolier 45Z daughter. People will admire his thick hair coat, his gentle nature, and calving ease. 219B has consistently provided sons with calving ease since we acquired her from the Saskalta dispersal. The Upward cattle have been consistent here, and will provide calves the buyers are looking for.

This was our first calf crop using Stunner and the results were very good. We bred most of our heifers to him as well as a couple of cows. The calves all came very easy, and showed a lot of stoutness and growth. Some of the best heifers in the replacement pen are sired by Stunner. Unfortanelty,920 was the only bull calf out of the group, but he is a good one. He displays a lot of length, nice muscle shape, and a calving ease look to him. The pedigree sports calving ease on both sides and the dam traces back to the famous donor Flag Missy Gal 90568.
Lot 17 is a really attractive bull destined for someone’s heifer pen. He has a lot of extension throughout his front end, is smooth shouldered, and is long made. We have had very good luck with the small sample of Foundation that we have used. The dam is a moderate cow with nice feet and a tidy udder.

Here is a bull with a unique pedigree, that came to us as an in dam purchase. The dam was a beautiful bred heifer and has developed into a really nice young cow. Another bull headed for the heifer pen, this guy should provide some sleep at night.
RFARIVERFRONT ANGUS RANCH 3rd Annual Bull Sale10
We wanted to incorporate Element to gain calving ease, yet maintain performance. The Element calves are known for their length and structural soundness. 905G comes to us from a larger framed cow, with lots of bone and a good solid foot under her. 2 maternal sisters have been retained.
Six Mile Annie K 144Z was another cow this summer who unfortunately had to bring 2 bull calves to the weaning pen on her own. 144Z is probably the most massive ribbed, and deep bodied cow in our herd. She also may be the quietest. A daughter is one of our top bred heifers and calved early with a beautiful udder. These brothers will go on and work well in the heifer pen, and still provide performance in the end.

A March calf that has a real rugged look to him and is keeping up to his pen mates in the performance department. 936 is stout, deep bodied, and hairy. His dam was purchased as a top bred heifer and is powerfully built, but yet maintains a feminine look. She has raised 4 bulls in row that have been offered for sale.
If you are looking to make moderate made cows with good feet and udders, have a look at 932. His dam 603 comes from a very maternal cow family that has produced many top end females for us. Sisters to 603 have sold to Brooking Angus Ranch for $11500 and Country Lane Angus for $7500. The sire was purchased for that same reason. The Rose 214X female is a model Angus cow. Our Fuel Up daughters have perfect feet and some of the best udders on the place.

Lot 21 has been a standout calf all year. This may be one of the best 45Z calves we have raised. 45Z was purchased out of the Saskalta Dispersal and we couldn’t wait to get him home and use him. He had a herd bull look to him, with an abundance of rib and shape to him. Unfortunately we lost him this summer. On the cow side, 249 has been one of the most consistent cows we have owned. She is a good uddered cow, who is super easy doing and breeds back early. Sons have sold to Ellis Ranching, Maser Ranching, Schlenkers, and Bar X Bar.

RFARIVERFRONT ANGUS RANCH 3rd Annual Bull Sale14
Lot 23 is a bull with a lot of extension through his front third, a smooth shoulder, and good top. Even though these 45Z sons are a little younger, don’t over look them. 607 is a young cow with a bright future. She is long bodied, deep sided, and has a good udder. The grandam 2062, is a favourite cow we purchased out of the Breed Creek herd.
An end of March calf that carries the same look as the rest of the 45Z sons. These bulls have been so consistent throughout. The dam is a good-looking Upward daughter that has performance bred in. The grand dam is the 345X cow that has 1 son and 2 grand sons in the sale.
The last bull in the sale and one of the youngest. 942 hails from a very good cow we acquired late in her career, and still looks amazing. She is a solid built cow with a strong foot and udder. A daughter has been retained in herd.
