` Nuclear powergenerally refers to electrical power

    generated from controlled nuclear reactions.

Commercial plants in use to date use nuclear

fission reactions.` Just as many conventional thermal power stations

generate electricity by harnessing the thermal

energy released from burning fossil fuels, nuclear

power plants convert the energy released from thenucleus of an atom, typically via nuclear fission.

    ` An induced fission

    reaction. A slow-

    moving neutron is

absorbed by thenucleus of a uranium-

    235 atom, which in

    turn splits into fast-

    moving lighter

    elements and three

    free neutrons.

Nuclear reactor is the main part of power plant.

Fission takes place in reactor building. It transports steam to the turbine.

Nuclear reactor consist of calandria ,moderator.

` It is the heart of reactor and

contains fuels and moderators.` It is made of austenitic stainless

    steel .

    ` It has 306 horizontal calandriatubes .

` It is a device used to generate steam.

` There are 4 boilers of steam generators.

` These are the unit where the high pressure andhigh temperature water gives away the thermal

    energy to low pressure water

` Hence it gets converted into steam.

Turbine is a device used to convert hydraulic

    energy in mechanical work.

Turbines are of two types:- Impulse turbine( pelton turbine)

    Reaction turbine(francis & kaplan turbine)

In R.A.P.S impulse turbine is used which runs

    at 3600 R.P.M

    ` Cooling towers are

    heat removal devices

    used to transfer waste

    heat to the

    atmosphere.

` The towers vary in size

    from small roof-top

    units to very large

    hyperboloid structures

    or rectangular

    structures

` Nuclear fuel is any material that can be

    consumed to derive nuclear energy.

` Nuclear fuel is heavy fissile elements that can bemade to undergo nuclear fission chain reactions in

    a nuclear fission reactor.

` The most common fissile nuclear fuels are 235Uand 239Pu
