This week, our NAPLAN (Naonal Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy) results have arrived and with them individual student reports for Years 3 and Years 5 students. The reports provide the school with a snapshot of student progress and growth in Spelling, Reading, Wring, Grammar and Punctuaon and Numeracy. It also provides the school with extra informaon in ensuring that we are meeng all student needs across the school. Students and families will receive their individual reports later this week. In addressing one of our Strategic Direcons “Excellence in Strong Partnerships” our Promoons Team have made available a survey to gather feedback about the format and content of our current school newsleer. I would encourage all families to complete the survey so that we connue to keep our whole school community well informed. In upcoming weeks, the team will also be coordinang a new name change for the newsleer. Stay tuned! Our recent Years 5 and 6 Camp was a huge success and 74 of our students aended this three day camp. With the recent win to our Naonal Netball team - The Diamonds at the World Championship, two of our senior girls were part of the Opening Ceremony as Flag Bearers for teams. Congratulaons Georgia and Caitlin! We are very proud of your involvement! Last week, I was very impressed with both of our debang teams who met in the finals for the Premier’s Debang Challenge. Our Year 5 and 6 debaters were outstanding and a credit to themselves, their coaches (Mrs Marone and Mr Stroud) and the school for their performance. Team ‘Erudite’ (Elli, Nikia, Gaby and Madison) now represent the school at the Region draw. Good luck girls! RINGROSE PUBLIC SCHOOL Ringrose Avenue, Greystanes 2145
Over the weekend, our new Playground Equipment was installed in our Quiet Area near the Cricket
Nets. My special thanks to Mr Tom (our G.A.) and the parent helpers (Ms Yuen, Mr Yuen and Mr Lovely)
who spent many hours spreading the soft fall under the equipment on Tuesday. This equipment will
provide students with the opportunity to improve their balancing skills as well as being a lovely area to
spend time playing with friends. It looks fantastic! Thank you also to 5C, who helped with the gardening.
Have you seen our new painted Aboriginal Mural near the Kindergarten rooms? Our visiting artist has
been working on the mural with the assistance of some of our students who spent a day earlier in the
term with her learning about our local indigenous culture. Together, they came up with the designs. Our
artist has also been speaking with all classes who’ve had a chance to watch and ask questions. We’ve
been very interested to see the progress as we pass by. It looks fantastic!
Finally, last week we farewelled Mrs Vucic who has been a School Learning Support Office at our school
for the last ten years. Mrs V has always been a highly dedicated and committed staff member ensuring
that the boys and girls she works with are given extra support and guidance to meet their learning
needs. Many, many students have benefitted from her diligence and care and we know that they’d all
like to wish her the very best. Thank you again Mrs V! Your lovely smile will be missed!
Yours sincerely,
Mr Loughhead

This week we have been lucky enough to have a wonderful artist- Leanne Tobin, and her son Shay helping create a wonderful mural reflecting the local indigenous culture of our area. Leanne, who is a local Dharug woman, helped get our week off to a great start by performing a Welcome to Country and a smoking ceremony to symbolise the fresh start with the journey we are taking with our new mural. She has been working closely with our indigenous students to create the mural as well as sharing with all classes across the school about the local indigenous history, the meaning of the mural and also about her work illustrating books- for which she has been nominated for 3 prestigious awards! It has been a terrific experience for all our students and will leave a stunning masterpiece for us to see everyday here at Ringrose. A big thanks to Leanne and Shay for their amazing artwork!

Chocolate Drive 2015
Congratulations to the very lucky winners of the chocolate draw!
Ciano of KW - who won the giant 5kg box of Favourites
and
Henry of 3/4A - who won the enormous 5kg Toblerone
Both of these boys, along with many other students, were entered into the draw because of their prompt
return of the fundraising chocolate money!
Whilst the majority of funds have been returned to school, there is still a large amount owing. Ringrose
P&C stand to raise nearly $6000 from this chocolate drive, and all these monies are retuned directly to the
children’s classrooms by way of resources for enhanced learning. So please, could all outstanding money
be returned to the school office as soon as possible.
Once again, well done to the boys on their great effort and their wonderful luck by winning the chocolate
raffle, and thank you to all the support shown by the families of Ringrose Public School.
Finally, a very big thank you to Mr & Mrs Fitzpatrick for their time and effort in making the fundraiser a
huge success.
Ringrose Debating 2015 - “Erudite”
It has been an outstanding year so far for our debating teams! Our first entry into the NSW Premiers
Debating Challenge has been successful all round. Our Year 5 team competed against many Year 6 teams
and continued to improve with each debate. Even though the competition may be over for them for the
year, they continue to train, taking on more debating homework and improving their debating skills to be
ready for the competition next year. Our Year 6 team remains undefeated. They won our Zone
competition and are progressing through to the Western Sydney Regional Finals. Their next debate will be
against Newbridge Heights Public School next week.

LOST PROPERTY
Lost property can be found in a
plastic tub outside the Library
With last week's school photos, there were a lot of shirts, jumpers and jackets that were mixed up and taken by the wrong owners. Can you please check carefully your child's school uniform to make sure they have the correct ones for school. Any unknown or mixed up ones can be handed in at the office and we will connect them to their owner. The Uniform Shop staff have also been working hard to return labelled lost property to students. However, there are still many items in lost property without names or classes. Please ensure all uniform items are clearly labelled with your child’s full name and class.
