Riley Neatly broken up. Gives me perspective of how the three courses are interrelated and how information should flow. Lots of duplication here. As we will see in the other curriculums, many people consider this material in one course and specialize more in higher level courses5Document Structure

Heavily theoretical at the start, considering aims, goals, philosophy and rationale.

Then gets into the module breakdown and the outcomes to be achieved in each module (the meat and potatoes). Followed by the appendices (mostly resource focused).

JoelSo much fluff at the front end of the curriculum and not enough resources or teaching ideas to make the material more interesting. I understand this is the teachers job; however suggestions may make it easier to think of other creative ways of engaging students. An ideal curriculum for me would be less theoretical front end material and more thought put into the implementation of the units would be nice.

6ResourcesThe appendices contain some useful information, such as project ideas, record keeping information and teacher instruction notes.However, most of these ideas are very raw, lacking detail or are simply not well thought out. Could be a lot more useful if the project ideas were built out further.

28Ontario Curriculum ExpectationsOverall Expectations describe in general terms the knowledge and skills that students are expected to demonstrate by the end of each course. Big IdeaSpecific Expectations describe the expected knowledge and skills in greater detail. Many of these have examples to show how they can be achieved.

Comparable to Saskatchewans Outcome and Indicators especially when comparing to renewed curricula such as English (ELA).

THE ROLE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY INTECHNOLOGICAL EDUCATIONInformation and communications technologies (ICT) provide a range of tools that can significantly extend and enrich teachers instructional strategies and support student learning. ICT tools include multimedia resources, databases, Internet websites, digital cameras, and word-processing programs. Tools such as these can help students to collect, organize, and sort the data they gather and to write, edit, and present reports on their findings. Information and communications technologies can also be used to connect students to other schools, at home and abroad, and to bring the global community into the local classroom.Whenever appropriate, therefore, students should be encouraged to use ICT to support and communicate their learning. For example, students working individually or in groups can use computer technology and/or Internet websites to gain access to technical information in Canada and around the world. Students can also use digital cameras and projectors to design and present the results of their research to their classmates.Although the Internet is a powerful learning tool, there are potential risks attached to its use. All students must be made aware of issues of Internet privacy, safety, and responsible use, as well as of the potential for abuse of this technology, particularly when it is used to bully or promote hatred.Teachers will find the various ICT tools useful in their teaching practice, both for whole- class instruction and for the design of curriculum units that contain varied approaches to learning to meet diverse student needs.
