The  Colosseum  or  Coliseum,  also  known  as  the  Flavian  Amphitheatre,  is  an  ellipIcal  amphitheatre  in  the  centre  of  Rome.  

ConstrucIon  began  under  the  emperor  Vespasian  in  72  AD,[3]  and  was  completed  in  80  AD  under  his  successor  and  heir  Titus.

Checkpoint  Charlie,  along  with  Glienicker  Brücke  (Glienicker  Bridge)  was  the  best  known  border-­‐crossing  of  Cold  War  days.      -­‐  became  a  symbol  of  the  division  

of  Cold  War  Berlin    -­‐  un<l  the  fall  of  the  Berlin  Wall  

on  November  9,  1989,  it  signified  the  border  between  West  and  East,  Capitalism  and  Communism,  freedom  and  confinement.
