A very well done to everyone who took part and congratulations to all our winners. We were delighted to be able to bring some new things to the fair this year such as our Princess and Unicorn ponies who were so cute! The Tug-of-War entertainment was a huge success as each side fought a very close run battle, with the Girls winning the ‘Battle of the Sexes!’ - better luck next time Boys! We would like to thank the Friends of Cowes Primary for their continued support, they were delighted to have made over £600 from the raffle and refreshments (and of course the Pimms!) We would also like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Groves for once again organising this wonderful event which managed to raise an amazing £1,240! We look forward to the 9th show next year! The three children who took part did a fantastic job in cooking their chosen recipe. After a very ‘hot’ competition, Angelica Aliani was announced the winner with her Chicken with peppers in a mushroom and local blue cheese sauce. Well done to Oren Cooke and Nicole Taminaya for their valiant efforts. The competition was judged by Ben Cooke from The Little Gloster restaurant in Gurnard along with Nicky Ibbertson and Debbie Sibley from our La Cocina Catering Team. The judges were all impressed by the cooking skills and the amount of local produce used. Shift It Project Award We are pleased to announce that the ‘Shift It’ Project have chosen Cowes Primary to receive their BRONZE Schools Award for their commitment to travelling to and from school in a more sustainable way. The school had to pass several criteria to meet the standards needed to achieve this award and would like to thank everyone for their tremendous effort. The team from ‘Shift It’ will be visiting the school in September to present us with our award. ‘Swim Safe’ Well done to Year 5 children who attended a Swim Safe session on Sandown beach on Wednesday. During the session the children were warned of the differences between swimming in a pool and in the sea, as well as being told about general beach safety and what to do if they found themselves in difficulty. They then practised various ‘self rescue’ techniques. After all this fun they enjoyed a picnic on the beach. A great time was had by all!
