Another Fabulous 5 Cent Coin Line Donation!

Thank you to all the students who enthusiastically

supported Richmond Public School’s 5c Coin Line Competition. It was great to see all involved in such

a worthy cause. We raised a staggering, $2214.55. As with previous years, we saw lines reaching from the

Library to our main building a number of times; an

excellent effort. Congratulations to 6D, the winning class who will receive a pizza lunch towards the end of this term. Our focus charity this year is Kids Helpline, a definite worthy charity.

I sincerely thank you for your support of our 5 cent Coin Line Competition.

Great work Richmond Public School!

School Swimming Scheme Sixty very lucky students had the opportunity of participating in the 2019 School Swimming Scheme

during Weeks 3 and 4 of this term. Students engaged in learning to swim or working on improving their

swimming strokes as well as learning and

demonstrating survival and rescue techniques. We were lucky to have such amazing weather which

allowed students to thoroughly enjoy the time they spent at Richmond Pool. All students will receive a

Swimming Report and a Certificate of Achievement that demonstrated their success during the program.

It is such a valuable program that teaches essential

water safety skills and we encourage student participation again next year. Thank you to Mrs

Morris and Miss Emblem, for again, giving their time to coordinate and teach these valuable lessons to

our students.

Classes 2020

Planning classes for 2020 is well underway. Anticipated enrolments for 2020 have been submitted to the Department of Education. If you are not expecting your child/children to return to Richmond Public School next year, can you please inform the office, in writing, to assist with our planning. Also, if you are planning to enrol another child (in area), please see the office for an enrolment form.

2020 School Prefects Over the past number of weeks, our Year 5 students have been involved in the election process for our 2020 Prefect Body. This is a very thorough process and one that takes a lot of courage for a student to place themselves up for nomination/election. On our library window are sixteen posters representing our final candidates. On Monday 25 November, Richmond Public School will hear election speeches from our sixteen candidates (8 girls/8 boys). All students K-6 and staff will vote for their selected students (4 girls and 4 boys). Mrs Proskien, Miss Deal and a member of our school community, will then count the votes. The top voted girl and boy become our 2020 school captains. The next highest boy and girl to be elected will become our 2020 vice captains. The following four candidates receiving the next highest amount of votes will become our 2020 prefects. All parents/caregivers are more than welcome to attend the 2020 Prefect Speeches which is to be held in the hall on Monday, 25 November at 11:30am. The order of speeches will be drawn out of a hat. We have many opportunities at our school for leadership positions for students in their final years.

Congratulation to Miss Bailey, and welcome Mrs Frost! We congratulate Miss Bailey and her fiancé Mr Frost, on their upcoming wedding. I know 1/2B are very excited to welcome Mrs Frost back to Richmond Public School in a few weeks’ time. Thank you to Mrs Morgan who is teaching 1/2B in Miss Bailey’s absence. I know you will join with me as I wish many blissful years of laughter and joy for the happy couple!

Presentation Day Voyager Medal If students earn five Touchdown Awards (125 Blast Offs) in any number of years and one Diamond Award (indicating no Reflection Time) of that current year, they are eligible to receive a Voyager Medal at the Presentation Ceremony at the end of that year. Once a student earns one Voyager Medal (bronze), they will receive a Silver Voyager Medal once they again achieve 5 Touchdown Certificates, they then move to a Gold Voyager Medal, then a Diamond Voyager Medal. A student must have achieved a Diamond Award (no Reflection Times) for the current year to be eligible to receive a Voyager Medal at the Presentation Day Ceremony. A student who receives a Diamond Voyager Medal, which is the highest level of the system, does not cycle back to a Bronze Voyager Medal but is eligible for another Diamond Award if they attain another 5 Touchdown Certificates. Touchdown and Voyager Medal CUT OFF DATE is this

Friday, 15 November 2019.

All Orbits need to be handed into the office before this date so they can be processed in time for Presentation Day. Diamond Awards are handed out to students this week. If your child requires this Diamond Award for their Voyager Medal, please make certain that it is given back to the classroom teacher so they can include it with your child’s 5 Touchdown Awards that have been brought in. This date is on our Parent/Caregiver Term 4 Planner, and has been communicated to the students regularly in the classroom. Please avoid disappointment by getting these awards in before the due date.

Recent Weather/Bushfire Danger Warnings

Throughout the recent unprecedented weather

conditions and bush fire activity, the Department, in conjunction with the Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Services, made informed decisions, which were strongly based on safety considerations, when

determining the operational status of each school. The Department of Education has student safety and

wellbeing as its highest priorities. Whilst Richmond

Public School was operational with minimum staff available for supervision, we made adjustments to our

daily lessons and routines to minimise exposure to smoke, and alleviate potential risks related to local

public and private transport issues. All students and

staff were safe at all times. I sincerely thank our school community and school staff for their support during this time. With a hot, dry

summer forecast, we may not see the end of such extreme weather conditions.

Mr Rugas’ Principal Position It has been confirmed that Mr Ruzgas’ Relieving Director- Educational Leadership position, will continue for the remainder of Term Four. This is because the substantive Director- Educational Leadership for Windsor, Mrs Bennett, continues to be unwell and is unable to fulfil her role in supporting Hawkesbury schools. We continue to send our kind thoughts to Mrs Bennett and to her family during her extended recovery. The public primary and high schools in the Hawkesbury, thank Mr Ruzgas, for his ongoing support. In Mr Ruzgas’ absence, I will remain in the Relieving Principal role with Miss Melissa Deal (Relieving Assistant Principal) and Ms Skye Patch (Opportunity Class teacher of 5M), continuing in their relieving roles. To the families of Richmond Public School, thank you for continuing to support our dedicated staff during this time. We have many exciting community events, cerebrations, and numerous other educational opportunities planned for your children in Term Four. Mr Ruzgas regularly visits our lovely school and enjoys hearing about our wonderful achievements. We expect him to join us for our Presentation Day and Carols On The Green celebrations, as well as input into our 2020 forward planning for Richmond Public School.

Warm regards,

Lisa McGrath

P&C News Halfway through term 4, time is going so fast. Thank you to everyone who purchased flowers for the Remembrance Day assembly. We raised a total of $435. A big Thank you to Hawkesbury Blooms for their co-operation and organising such beautiful flowers at wholesale price for us. Today you will receive raffle tickets for our Christmas Raffle. This will be drawn at our Carols on the Green event. Thank you to all those who have donated goods for our Christmas hampers. These hampers will make up the prizes for our raffle. Our last P&C meeting saw the P&C donate funds to the school for presentation day and to purchase a high pressure cleaner for Colin, Richmond Public School’s GA. Colin has helped out a lot with P&C events, so this was only fitting that the high pressure cleaner be funded by the P&C. Don’t forget Carols on the Green is coming up, Monday 16th December. Get your family together for a night of food, fun and performances by the students at Richmond Public School. Can’t wait to see you there. Our next meeting that will be held will be the Annual General Meeting. If you would like to be a part of the committee or know someone who would, please complete the nomination form when they are released. Monday 2nd, December at 7pm is our next meeting and our AGM will start at 8pm sharp! Child minding is available for these 2hours, thanks to the time volunteered by the staff at Richmond Public school. Brooke Toli P&C President

Please give her a wave next time you are there to show how much we appreciate her and her team. Just a reminder that this term our last canteen day will be at the end of week 9, Friday 13th December.
