WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE WE DOING?
In Mark 16:15-16, we are told “all the world.” We are not able to reach the whole world, but we can build our part of the wall (Nehemiah 3). At Baker Heights, we’ve always been a mission minded congregation: Currently, we are supporting efforts in
Zambia, Ecuador, World Bible School (WBS), and Abilene.
In Zambia, so far, this year has seen 254 baptisms, 1318 restorations, and the establishment of 11 congregations. Some things haven’t always gone as we planned, but it’s not our plan. It’s God’s plan. He will direct us. We are assisting the men working at the Chipata Bible College (CBC) in setting up a WBS Service Center that will provide Bible studies to Zambians in their native tongue. The Chipata and Eastern Province churches have had several gatherings at the CBC campus. The Hillsview congregation has grown and become more active with congregations in the Eastern Province – and the Church is being
strengthened because of it.
In Ecuador this past summer multiple events have been successfully conducted. An Evangelism class with 20 participants is learning how to assist others in knowing Christ. A VBS saw attendance of 105 children and 46 visitors. There are plans with three other congregations to have a city-wide gathering at which
600+ are expected to attend. The work in Ecuador is strong.
How’s Abilene a foreign mission? If they don’t know Christ, they’re foreign to God. The Body here is growing. Is it as fast as we all would like? No: So what can we do? Well, ask James Sanderson what you can do. He would love to have some help. Do you know anyone who is looking for a church home? Invite them to worship with us. Have you seen someone hurting and lost? Tell them about the “peace that passes all understanding.” Give them a World Bible School lesson. Host a Bible study in your home, be a “silent partner” in a study, or contribute to support a work. It may not seem like much, but we can all build our part of the wall. We all can’t do everything, but we all can do something.
