Welcome to Riverside Center’s thirteenth season of Broadway musicals, which continues the six-show format so well received by our patrons last season.

With a blend of classical, contemporary, and “foot-stomping” offerings, I believe you’ll find this a season to embrace and broaden your theatrical perspectives, as you experience

the exuberant dances and vocals of Footloose; the whimsical musings of Into the Woods; the brassy edges of Chicago; the redemptive joy of It’s A Wonderful Life; the comedic innocence of Hairspray; and the country-flavored political spoofs of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

In addition to our mainstage productions, Saturday afternoon children’s theatre, annual summer theatre camps, and concert appearances by celebrity guest artists, new features for 2010-2011 include a Mystery Theater on select Wednesday evenings and a Sunday evening Summer Showcase.

I’m delighted to announce the addition of Patrick A’Hearn to our artistic and marketing staff. Patrick brings to Riverside Center a wealth of experience as a prominent Broadway actor, musical-theatre director, and symphonic-orchestra vocal artist. As Associate Artistic Director, Patrick will expand Riverside Center’s outreach and educational programming, direct three Season XIII mainstage productions, and participate in the selection and licensing acquisition of newly released shows.

We also welcome Pohanka Nissan-Hyundai as the official sponsor of four Season XIII productions – Chicago, It’s A Wonderful Life, Hairspray, and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. The Pohanka family of dealerships in Fredericksburg and Northern Virginia has long been associated with tangible investment in com-munity enhancement. We are most grateful to Tim Pohanka for his partnership in sustaining Riverside Center’s presentation of the finest in Broadway musical entertainment to Fredericksburg area residents of all ages and cultures.

Our “sister” entity, the Riverside Foundation for the Performing Arts (RFPA), an IRS Code Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable foundation, continues to underwrite a variety of promotional and educational programs for area community-service organizations since its establishment in 2007. In July 2010, under a generous grant from the PNC Foundation, RFPA conducted a one-week summer performing arts camp for at-risk children and youth, and plans to

sponsor a series of master classes in musical theater at selected Stafford County high schools during the coming school year.

In its nearly thirteen years of existence, Riverside Center has provided the venue and resources for showcasing the talents of children, youth, and adults in both onstage and backstage crafts. Nationally recognized actors and artists have graced our stage, often alongside emerging young talents that mature and grow through the interaction. We’ve repeatedly been cited by noted critics for excellence in acting, music, directing and choreography categories, and, independent of government subsidies and blessed with a highly motivated resident staff, we are recognized as a major performing arts center in the State of Virginia and the mid-Atlantic region.

I trust you will nurture your own support of Riverside Center by your attendance, “word-of-mouth” promotion, and, if possible, voluntary financial assistance. Perhaps your business would consider sponsorship of one of our mainstage or children’s theatre productions. And tax-deductible contributions to the Riverside Foundation are always welcome and immensely appreciated.

Don’t hesitate to contact me at 540-370-4300 or any sustaining member (listed elsewhere in this playbill) for additional guidance on how you can participate in our outreach.

I am excited and proud to finally bring Chicago to the Riverside Center. After our pursuit of licensing rights for almost four years, this show has now become a reality for our illustrious stage.

I have a fondness and personal attachment to Chicago, having appeared as Mary Sunshine in both the first national tour and the Las Vegas production that starred Chita Rivera and Ben Vereen. I can remember seeing the revival back in 1996 and being dazzled from the first notes of the horns playing “All

That Jazz” straight through to the end of the “Hot Honey Rag.” What sophistication, sensuality, excitement and star quality! How wonderful for Bob Fosse, John Kander and Fred Ebb to finally get their reward for a show that was ahead of its time in 1975 and completely overshadowed by the opening of A Chorus Line the same year. Murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery – just like the reality television world we live in today.

A dark parable of American justice, this sexy musical extravaganza not only sensationalizes its two stars, Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, for the murders of their husbands, but also propels both of them to showbiz stardom. If Roxie and Velma had been around today, they probably would have had their own television show called “The Real Housewives of Chicago.”

Thanks to Annie Reinking’s splendid choreography “in the style of Bob Fosse” and the delicious wit of director Walter Bobbie, Chicago went on to win 6 Tony awards in 1997, including Best Musical Revival. Still running on Broadway, it has become Broadway’s longest running revival and the sixth longest running show in Broadway history. In 2002, Chicago was released as a feature film and later went on to win an Academy Award for Best Picture.

I believe what makes Chicago such a winner is how it resonates in today’s media-driven society. Adding to its potency is the fact that it is based on the true stories of the 1924 trials of murderesses Beulah Annan and Belva Gaertner, as covered by Maurine Dallas Watkins for the Chicago Tribune. Kander and Ebb’s musical score produces several showstoppers, and the cleverness of basing them on traditional vaudeville acts and star performers is intriguing. This character-driven musical excites from beginning to end!

And that is my mission for this production of Chicago – to excite you, our audience, from beginning to end. I could not have accomplished this without a wonderful cast, production staff and technical crew. I pay special tribute to Christopher Noffke for his electrifying re-creation of some of Annie Reinking’s choreography as well his own take on Bob Fosse’s style. As always, my gratitude and admiration go out to Ron Wehman for his willingness to tackle this great show, his keen musical sensibilities, and “all that jazz”……………

Fulfilling a lifelong calling to church music ministries, Mr. Wehman has served as part-time Minister of Music/Organist for a number of denominations locally and in the Washington/Maryland region.

PATRICK A’HeARN (Director, Associate Artistic Director) is the most recent addition to Riverside Center’s management staff, affording a new dimension and broader outreach to our artistic endeavors. He has appeared on Broadway and in the national tours of Les Miserables, Chicago (with Chita Rivera and Ben Vereen), The Phantom of the Opera, The King and I (starring Rudolph Nureyev), The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber (with Michael Crawford), and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (with Andy Gibb), as well as in the acclaimed Forbidden Broadway in New York. SABRA MICHeLLe (Roxie Hart) is a native of Northern Virginia and received her BFA in dance from Shenandoah University, with subsequent training at George Mason University, New York City, London, England and Paris, France. D.C. area roles include Cassandra in Cats, Graziella in West Side Story, Sister Mary Leo in Nunsense, Jean in Brigadoon, and at President Clinton’s second Inaugural in George Faison’s KING! A Musical Testimony with Maya Angelou. Appearances with professional dance companies include Dancin’ Unlimited, Motion Mania

Dance Theatre, and the Ballroom Dance Company. Since becoming a resident of New York City’s theatre district, Sabra has performed in Off-Broadway showcases, worked with many Broadway stars, and studied with some of Broadway’s premier music directors and coaches. Among favorite show memories are the principal roles of Gladys in Pal Joey, Ellie in Show Boat, Mayzie in Seussical!, the national tour of The Pajama Game, and cruising the Hawaiian islands on NCLA’s Pride of America. As a dance instructor, Sabra is the recipient of the “Outstanding Excellence in Teaching” Award from the Governor’s School of Virginia and serves as guest choreographer for the Workhouse at the Lorton Arts Foundation. She is proud to have taught award-winning dancers and elite Olympic gymnasts, including Dominique Dawes, Elise Ray, and Courtney Kupets. Thrilled to be reunited with Christopher Noffke’s brilliant choreography, she is grateful to Patrick A’Hearn and Ron Wehman for the opportunity to play this dream role, and delights in sharing her energy while hoping to encourage others to find joy and excitement in all they do.

VILMA GIL (Velma Kelly) has appeared in national Broadway tour productions as Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ, Superstar, Diana Morales in A Chorus Line, Mickey in My One and Only, and as a principal at New Jersey’s prestigious Paper Mill Playhouse. She was an original cast member of the Nunsense and Nunsense II Philadelphia and Connecticut productions under the direction of composer Danny Goggin, and directed and starred in both Riverside Center presentations. In prior seasons at Riverside, Vilma’s talent has been showcased

as Mama Rose in Gypsy, Anita in West Side Story, Adelaide in Guys and Dolls and Rosie in Bye Bye, Birdie, and she served as Choreographer for our acclaimed 2008 offering of Grease. She has also been our principal drama instructor for each of Riverside Center’s nine annual Summer Theater Camp sessions. Recent appearances at the Barksdale Theatre in Richmond include Lilly in Swingtime Canteen and Dusty Springfield/Brenda Lee in four Beehive productions. Her

about the Cast

Page 24: Ri v e R s i d e Ce n t e R

media resumé encompasses industrials, commercials and voice-overs for MTV and SNET, and her petite feet have graced the catwalks of New York as a top shoe model. When not performing, Vilma enjoys cooking, cycling, and spelunking. Her favorite role to date, however, is that of wife to Wes McClain and Mom to her awesome daughters Giselle, Hannah, and Seren.

GAry besT (Billy Flynn) returns to us for his eighth mainstage production, with principal appearances in previous seasons as Juan Peron in Evita, Julian Marsh in 42nd Street, Mr. Applegate in Damn Yankees, Freddy in My Fair Lady, the King of Siam in The King and I, Herbie in Gypsy, and Fred Graham/Petruchio in Kiss Me, Kate. A transplant to the Fredericksburg area 10 years ago in his progression toward warmer, non-winter weather (especially after last winter!), Gary hails from Maryland where he performed at Toby’s Dinner Theatre in Columbia

for over 20 years. A HR professional by day, he finds acting to be a perfect outlet in conjunction with his “real” job. In recent years he has enjoyed the opportunity to perform onstage with his daughter Jessica, and on occasion with his son Jeremy (who joined them both in Damn Yankees!), after years of coaching them in soccer, baseball, and softball. Gary comes from a performing family – a playwright grandfather, a TV/radio personality uncle and a theatre producer mother. He has the distinction of having been selected in a national talent search to attend the John Davidson Singers Summer Camp on Catalina Island, where he worked with entertainment personalities as diverse as Tony Orlando, Shields and Yarnell, and John Davidson himself (even partying on John’s yacht!). Having played angels, professors, devils, Biblical figures, kings and a South American dictator, he now gets to portray the epitome of actors – a lawyer!

Wynn CreAsy (Matron “Mama” Morton) began performing with her Dad’s country/western band at the age of three and later trained with The School of the Richmond Ballet. She holds degrees in Acting and Voice from Virginia Commonwealth University and in Opera Performance from the Hartt School of Music. After apprenticeships with the Santa Fe and Connecticut Operas, Wynn sang professionally in opera and music theatre for 20 years. She now focuses on dramatic theatre and cabaret performances and the occasional musical role. Also a

professional artist and author, she is in workshop for her new musical play One Hot Mama© (celebrating the life of Sophie Tucker), and her artwork prints can be purchased online at http://wynn-creasy. artistwebsites.com. She is about to publish her second book – The Goddess’ Bounty – a novel on the passions of love and food, as well as a joint Vegan cookbook with her husband, photographer Michael Putnam. Favorite roles to date include Martha in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Berthe in Pippin, Cornelia in Giulio Cesare, the title role in

Page 25: Ri v e R s i d e Ce n t e R

Tancredi, Mama Rose in Gypsy, Joanne in Company, Sophie Tucker in One Hot Mama, and now – the exploitative “Matron Mama” in Chicago.

Rev. Shaw Moore in Footloose. For his portrayal of patriarch Charlie Anderson in our 2007 presentation of Shenandoah, he received critic Margaret Lawrence’s “Best Actor in a Washington-Area Musical” award. A highly respected and widely recognized musical theatre performer throughout the metropolitan Washington, DC and Northern Virginia regions for many years, John lists among additional favorite portrayals those of Benteen in Custer, Pozzo in Waiting for Godot, Archibald in The Secret Garden, Malvolio in Twelfth Night, and Joe Keller in All My Sons. He is most grateful for another opportunity to work with both longstanding and new friends.

M. JAMeS (Mary Sunshine) received a BFA in Theatre Performance in 2009 from Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts in Richmond, Virginia and is thrilled to be performing on the Riverside stage for the first time (playing the role of Mary Sunshine for the second time!). Favorite adventures include being a seasonal employee of the Walt Disney Company, appearing as a Hollywood tour guide on The Great Movie Ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida, appearing in the role of Mary Sunshine in VCU’s

production of Chicago, appearances in Theatre IV’s Rumpelstiltskin’s Daughter, VCU’s Cabaret, Swift Creek Mill’s Side Show – The Musical, VCU’s A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Richmond Triangle Theatre’s Christmas With The Crawfords, Richmond Landmark Theatre’s Off-Broadway tour of Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding, and most recently, Firehouse Theatre Project’s Rent. Ensemble) is thrilled to be making his Riverside debut with such an amazing cast of performers. After graduating from VCU with a degree in Theatre and Vocal Performance, Brian landed his dream job as lead singer/dancer with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, and has toured over 25 countries in Central and South America, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and Scandinavia. Following the final curtain of Chicago, Brian will return to the high seas for another tour out of Colon, Panama and Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Currently calling

Richmond home, Brian has been seen onstage at Barksdale Theatre, Busch Gardens, and Kings Dominion. In April 2008 he was hand-picked to perform with Dove Award winning and Grammy nominee Jim Brickman in concert at the Richmond Raceway Complex. Among favorite credits are portrayals of Capt. Billy Pierce in The Civil War at VCU, Rev. Crisparkle in The Mystery of Edwin Drood and appearances in The Wizard of Oz, Oliver!, and Fiddler On the Roof. Many thanks to Jason, Chloe, and the rest of the gang! www.myspace.com/brianbaezmusic

RICARDO COLeMAN, Jr. (Harry/Court Clerk, Male Ensemble) began performing in church dramas as a boy, and his love for musical theatre continued to grow with stage appearances in Guys & Dolls, Bye Bye, Birdie, Ain’t Misbehavin’, A Streetcar Named Desire, and The Nutcracker. Recently seen earlier this year on the Riverside stage as the Motown Quartet bass in Smokey Joe’s Café, Ricardo has appeared in the Kings Dominion interactive gaming experience Crossbones and Scalawags and was the 2002 recipient of the Busch Gardens Music in

the Parks Festival award for Outstanding Male Vocal Soloist. Additional credits include voice-overs for the Partners In Prevention “I Am” ad campaign. Excited to be returning for his second mainstage show, he extends thanks to his parents and two sisters for their never-ending love and support. Special thanks also to No. 1 fan Manda, the “Rat Pack,” and Vitez for his constant ribbing. To Spoonie – I love you very much!

KenneTH GAry (Announcer/Reporter, Male Ensemble) is excited to be back at home in Stafford County after shipboard tours as a featured singer for Holland America and Royal Carribean cruise lines. Kenny trained in dance at The Dance Spot in Stafford and at age 16 was selected to perform as a singer-dancer in the principal stage attraction at Paramount Kings Dominion. Earlier this year he played the role of Seaweed in the Kevin Black Productions south Florida tour of Hairspray. Many thanks to his family and friends for all of their love

and support.

Abby HArT (Hunyak) recently graduated from Shenandoah University with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre and a minor in Piano, and is very excited to be making her Riverside Center debut. Past favorite roles include Erma in Anything Goes, Janet in The Rocky Horror Show, Vibrata in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Sissy in Rumpelstilskin Is My Name, and Patty Simcox in Grease. Last summer, Abby was privileged to spend four weeks in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she worked with world-renowned

acting teachers and choreographers. Many thanks to Mum, Dad, Drew, Liz, and Mrs P. for all their love and support. You can visit my web site at www.abbyhart.com! JPN.

sHerI HAyden (Annie, Roxie u.s.) is a native of Fredericksburg who began singing at a very early age on her Grandmother’s backyard swing to an extremely captive audience of ladybugs and caterpillars. With that early training, she was able to embark on a professional singing career, entertaining audiences throughout the world for nearly two decades as a featured performer at various theme parks along the East coast, on cruise ships, with several regional bands, and as a demo singer for Nashville songwriters. Returning home from an eight-

month contract as production singer for Carnival Cruise Lines out of New York and Florida, Sheri brings to Riverside Center a wide background in virtually all genres of music – country, rock n’ roll, Broadway, Motown and even opera. She made her debut on our stage last January in the role of Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, and has subsequently appeared as principal vocalist/dancer in Smokey

Page 28: Ri v e R s i d e Ce n t e R

Joe’s Café, Vi (alternate) in Footloose, and Cinderella in Into the Woods. Thanks to mom, dad and grandparents Emmitt and Thelma for all their love and constant support.

JOsH Kelly (Bailiff, Male Ensemble, Mary Sunshine u.s.) is excited to return to our mainstage following his appearance earlier this year in the principal role of Ren in Footloose, and in past seasons as Hortensio in Kiss Me, Kate and Tom Sawyer in Big River. A 2003 graduate of Colonial Forge High School, where he participated in the Madrigal Ensemble and Show Choir, Josh was selected in both 2002 and 2003 for the All-Virginia State Choir and was the winner of the first annual “Colonial Forge Idol” competition. He is an accomplished instrumentalist

on violin, French horn, trumpet, and mellophone, and has twice performed with madrigal choirs at the Kennedy Center. Currently majoring in Nursing at Germanna Community College, he hopes to continue expanding his musical and acting horizons. Thanks to God for the gifts He has given me to touch others, my family for their continuing support, and my son who makes it all matter.

HeATHeR McINTOSH (June) has been a standout Riverside performer in 31 productions since our inaugural season, and is delighted to return for No. 32! Heather was first bit by the acting bug when she did a commercial at 12 years old in Iceland [don’t worry, you haven’t seen it!]. Subsequent achievements included a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater with a minor in Music from James Madison University, neither of which, by the way, is put to use in her profession as a Plans and Program Analyst with the Marine Corps. Her musical theatre training has, however,

come in handy for principal roles in Riverside productions of 42nd Street (Dorothy Brock), The Pajama Game (Gladys Hotchkiss), Evita (Eva alternate), Cats (Jellylorum), West Side Story (Consuelo), Nunsense I and Nunsense II (Sister Mary Amnesia), Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (Silly Girl), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Apache dancer/Jacob’s Wife), Footloose (Vi), and most recently Into the Woods (the Baker’s Wife). Favorites at other venues include Kate/Lili Vanessi in Kiss Me, Kate, Agnes in Agnes of God, Judy in A Chorus Line, Kate in All My Sons, and variety shows at Busch Gardens and on the Costa Cruise Line. Of all roles in her resumé, however, she is proudest of one: mother of her beautiful daughter Amanda.

NICHOLAS RIVeRA-MILLeR (Reporter/Photographer, Male Ensemble) auditioned for his first musical in his sophomore year of high school, anticipating at most an understudy role, but was pleasantly surprised to have been selected as a principal – “Papa Ge” in Once on This Island. Following his mother’s new military assignment, he moved to another high school, gained confidence in displaying his musical and dance talents, and began to realize that being onstage – any stage – was where he felt most at home. He appeared as the Possum in

a Raleigh, NC community theater production of Briar Patch, and “branched out” into the LGBT Community as a female impersonator. In rehearsing for his debut Riverside production, Nicholas explores both a new genre of dance (working muscles he didn’t think he had) and a new area of theater that he is beginning to love. Additional talents include Hair and Make-Up Artist as well as modeling. He extends thanks to his mother, father, brother, sister, Chasity Scott, the Con-tees, Heidi, Christopher, and Jennifer Hacker for their abundant encouragement.

CHrIsTIn bArKsdAle prIsTAs (Mona, Dance Captain) is thankful to return to Riverside’s stage and to be a part of such a talented cast. Over the past 8 years, Christin has been seen on our mainstage as the principal dancer/Dance Captain and Zaneeta in The Music Man, Bonnie Jean in Brigadoon, Victoria (The White Cat) in Cats, and partnered with her husband Todd as a part of the Tango Couple in Evita, her favorite role to date. A dance instructor in the Fredericksburg area for the past several years, she is now a full-time “domestic engineer” working

from home. During her Riverside Center mainstage debut in West Side Story six years ago, Christin met her then-to-be future husband Todd, and together they have since written their own story to include a 2-year-old son, David. Christin sends gratitude to a very encouraging family and to God, with Whom all things are possible. Thanks also to Christopher for brilliant choreography, to Patrick for bringing Chicago to Riverside and to Ron for the venue to perform. Todd & David – You bring such joy to my life and I am so very blessed to have you. I love you. Prov 3:5.

CALVIN ReGISTeR, JR. (Aaron/The Jury, Male Ensemble) has been enamored with and immersed in the performing arts since his days as a boy in Okinawa, Japan. Growing up, he gained an appreciation and love of song, dance and presentation, making his first appearance in musical theatre at Woodbridge Senior High School as Neville Landless in The Mystery of Edwin Drood and winning him the thespian society’s “Best Supporting Actor” award. He has since become a mainstay in our Children’s Theatre, appearing as the Chef in Enchanted

Page 30: Ri v e R s i d e Ce n t e R

Sleeping Beauty, Turkey in Honk! Jr., Yao in Disney’s Mulan, and Mowgli in The Jungle Book. Most recently seen on our mainstage as the “cutup” Motown Quartet tenor in last season’s Smokey Joe’s Café, Calvin has also appeared with the Lorton Workhouse Arts Center in the featured role of Charles in Incorruptible. Welcomed back to join another Riverside Center mainstage production, Calvin is filled with gratitude for this opportunity to learn, share, and grow with such an amazingly talented cast.

RACHeL SIMPSON (“Go-to-Hell” Kitty) is a graduate of Christopher Newport University where she majored in Musical Theatre with a minor in Music. At CNU she participated in productions of varying musical genres – opera, theatre, and choral. In her freshman year, Rachel sung the role of Susana in scenes from The Marriage of Figaro, then concluded that year playing Athena in Dido and Aneas. As a first soprano in the university choir, she was selected as a soloist for numerous choral concerts. Her CNU drama credits included the role of Mrs. Six in

The Adding Machine and the lead in the one-act play Woman on a Threshold Beckoning. Rachel made her Riverside mainstage debut last July as Cinderella’s Stepsister in Into the Woods, and was earlier featured in the title role of our 2009 Children’s Theatre offering of Rapunzel, Let Down Your Hair. A recent alumna of CAP21, a six-week musical conservatory program in New York City, she is very excited to appear in this production and looks forward to a wonderful run.

TáLON THOMAS (Liz, Velma u.s.) celebrates her fourth Riverside mainstage production with a growing resume of musical influences ranging from classical to gospel, jazz and soul. TáLon has competed and participated in advanced professional and pre-professional operatic workshops and choral groups across the state, including Norfolk Virginia’s I. Sherman Green Chorale, the Old Dominion University Chorale, the Mary Baldwin Woman’s Chorus, the Dominion Singers and the Stafford Regional Choral Society. She has also served as section leader in

the Virginia Youth Gospel Chorus and as director for the Our Divine Unity Youth Praise Team at Old Dominion University. She debuted here as Crystal in last season’s Little Shop of Horrors, was later seen as principal female Motown/gospel soloist in Smokey Joe’s Café, and most recently appeared as Rusty in our spring presentation of Footloose. When not studying her craft or hitting the books, TáLon enjoys spending time with her wonderful family and counting the many blessings the Lord has so graciously bestowed upon her.

ANTHONY WILLIAMS (Martin Harrison, Male Ensemble) is a graduate of C.D. Hylton High School in Woodbridge, VA, and for the past five years has embarked on his journey into the wide world of entertainment. With his Riverside Center debut in Ragtime, he added musical theatre to an already broad array of sports, modeling, dancing, music producing and vocalist credits, and subsequent castings have included featured roles in The Music Man, Cats, Bye Bye, Birdie, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Disney’s Beauty and

the Beast, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Peter Pan, The Pajama Game (for which he also served as Choreographer), Evita, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (also Choreographer), Smokey Joe’s Café (for which he received rave reviews for both his innovative choreography and Motown Quartet baritone vocals), Footloose, and Into the Woods. His portrayals of Kenickie in Grease and Andy Lee in 42nd Street received critical acclaim, and he served as Master of Ceremonies for our Mystery Dinner Theater while appearing in multiple Children’s Theatre offerings as both actor and choreographer. An accomplished dancer and winner of awards in five different areas of dance competitions, Anthony looks to future goals of travel and eventually opening an institute to train others seeking careers in entertainment.

ADAM WORKMAN (Fred Casely, Male Ensemble) debuted on our mainstage in 2008 as Russ and Kenickie/Sonny [alternates] in Grease, and has since appeared as Oscar in 42nd Street, Starkey in Peter Pan, Fred/Ghost of Christmas present (alternate) in Scrooge!, a variety of supporting roles for Evita, and Chuck Cranston in Footloose. He continues to delight the younger set in featured Children’s Theatre roles as both hero (Ichabod Crane in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow) and villain (Razoul in Disney’s Aladdin Jr.), as well as Wednesday evening

murder mystery audiences as Ricky in Trouble at the Tropicabana and “Claude-Jean Van Dumbe” in Murder at the TonyLou Awards. Currently taking classes at Germanna Community College, Adam hopes to transfer to a theatre conservatory in the near future to further prepare for an acting career. Past drama credits also include Lumiere in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Alan in William Inge’s Picnic. Many thanks to the Riverside production staff for this wonderful opportunity to again perform onstage.

After completing her studies at IU, she traveled to Italy to study with Enza Ferrari, vocal coach

She has since appeared professionally with the opera companies of Orlando, Knoxville, Milwaukee, and Indianapolis as Musetta in La Boheme, Micaela in Carmen, Nedda in I Pagliacci, and Pamina in The Magic Flute, and was selected as soprano soloist for John Rutter’s Magnificat at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. the pirate Smee in Peter Pan, and Cinderella’s Father in Into the Woods. A graduate of the University of Maryland, Bob provided guidance in the design and initial operations of our theater and served as its first Vice President.

AleX bAlIAn (Billy Flynn u.s.) made his Riverside Center debut last season as Myron Hasler in The Pajama Game after years of being a member of our audiences. Alex established his dental practice and moved to Fredericksburg in 1993, and has retained theatre as an important part of his life by joining the Fredericksburg Theatre Company and more recently appearing in featured roles with Stage Door Productions. He brings to Riverside a host of musical theatre credits including favorite roles as Fred in Kiss Me, Kate, Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of

Music, the Wazir in Kismet, and (the most fun) Horton the Elephant in Seussical!. Alex extends thanks to wife Karen and sons Matthew and Christopher for understanding his passion and supporting him in his continuing love of musical theatre.

KylIe ClArK (Female Ensemble swing) has fascinated our audiences in recent seasons as Grizabella in Cats, Meg in Brigadoon, Fermina in Man of La Mancha, Lois Lane/Bianca in Kiss Me, Kate, Susan Wilkes in Big River, Kathleen in Ragtime, the Ghost of Christmas Past in Scrooge!, and Lulu Warnicker in Footloose. She was also the recipient of a “Best Actress” critic’s award as Elsa Schraeder in 2006’s The Sound of Music. A graduate of George Mason University with a B.A. in Theatre, Kylie recently received her Master’s Degree in Music Theatre

from the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England. While there for a two-year period of study, she performed in many original theatrical works, citing as favorite roles Collette in Conor Mitchell’s Mathilde and Nelly Messenger in the critically acclaimed Off-West-End production of Cirxus. In March of 2010, she experienced a much anticipated surname change by virtue of her marriage to fellow thespian (and “rocket scientist”) Devon Clark.

JAKe BuMBReY (Male Ensemble swing) is an eighteen year old senior at Colonial Forge High School in Stafford, and views this Riverside Center mainstage debut as an important step toward a future career in music. At the age of 15, Jake had participated in every scholastic choral ensemble available. In 2007, he was selected for the inaugural American Idol Camp and performed onstage with Trey Songz at the 2008 Virginia Icon. Last year he was awarded the principal tenor position in the Virginia
