1 Rhonda’s Reflections I recently saw this quote, "No one can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending". I really began to think about that statement. The conclusion was that we don't start over; but we begin again right where we are, making things better in our lives. As a Christian, it is not about saying I will do this and I won't do that and then dropping the idea or falling short. It is more about asking God to help us each day, to have a deeper commitment, a deeper love, and a deeper relationship with God. One day while in prayer God spoke to me in that still small voice and said, “"I am more than enough. I am more than enough in every area of your life." God also said to tell others the same thing. This year I am determined to share this message. God wants our undivided attention in spite of the distractions and temptations that lie waiting around the corner. God longs to be our main focus. How we will end this year will be determined by how we started it. Did we want to get more "INTIMATE" with the lover of our soul? I looked up the word intimacy and the meaning is to be close, familiar, very personal and private. Do you want a new ending this year? Stop and consider that this could be the best New Year of your life. Your life can be filled with hope and peace. To know what the ending will be is an extra bonus. Why should every year be the same as the one before with nothing really changing? If you feel stagnate in your relationship with God, then now is the time to rekindle the love affair with Him. God calls us to Himself and says, "Come away my beloved." Can you hear Him? He

Rhonda’s Reflections

I recently saw this quote, "No one can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending".

He

is tugging at your heart. The real ending in our life will be when Jesus says well done my good and faithful servant. That statement will be for someone who took the time to get to know Him, love Him, and that obediently followed Him.

May this be for you the best new year ever.

I’ll see you in church! Pastor Rhonda

ANNUAL REPORTS FOR COMMITTEES, ETC. - Carolyn will soon begin preparing the 2019 Annual Report. Please submit your report to her by Monday, January 20th. If you can type and send it by email, it is most helpful - she can cut and paste!! If you have any questions, please give her a call in the church office.

ANNUAL MEETING IN FEBRUARY The annual meeting of the congregation is scheduled for Sunday, February 9th. There will first be a luncheon following worship. That will be followed by the meeting in which the efforts of 2019 will be reviewed, annual reports received, and the election of President and Vice President of the congregation will be conducted.

BACK BAY MISSION TRIP 2020: Are you ready for a life changing experience? We are planning a mission trip to Back Bay Mission, March 1-7, 2020. It seems far away, but it is not. Whatever your age, skilled or not, there is always something for you to do. You will help to strengthen neighborhoods, seek justice, and transform lives ....others yes, but your own as well. Those who have gone before will tell you about an experience unlike any other and people return year after year. Please contact Jeanette Tangeman, [email protected], or 419-234-7935, for details. All of us are Jesus' hands and feet on earth and this is one way to put your faith into action.

WE’RE GETTING A NEW ELEVATOR!!!! We’ve hired a

contractor and work is scheduled to begin in early March with an expected completion by the end of August. However, we still need to raise about $60,000.00. We’ve done an awesome job of raising money for this “uplifting” project, but need a little more help to reach completion. Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated.

IT’S A NEW YEAR AND A NEW BEGINNING

FOR OUR TOILET PAPER MISSION Our goal again this year is 2500. Let’s get rolling early this year and put the rolls in the Elevette Room. If you would like for me to purchase rolls for you, I can do this. Just give your donation to me or the office. I will be glad to help out. So, let’s just keep the paper rolling. Thank you for your past and present support of Agape projects. Jane Nuss.

On December 1, 2019, the church welcomed through baptism: Colby John Jameson Long, son of Nathan and Margo Long. Colby’s grandparents are John and Marlene Long. Welcome Colby John Jameson Long.

*~*~*~* On December 8, 2019, in a private ceremony, the church welcomed through baptism: Claydon Loren Milner and Madison Milner, son and daughter of Angela and Adam Milner. The church also welcomed through baptism: Angela Milner. Welcome Angela, Madison and Claydon Milner.

Aluminum Can Recycling for the Youth Group

Thank you to everyone who is saving aluminum cans for the YOUTH GROUP. We will continue to save, collect, and recycle cans.

Cans need to be rinsed out and brought to St. Paul’s - just

leave them behind the curtain under the stairs of the Creation Station door. If you have a lot of cans and would like to just take them on to recycling and donate the money, it may be just as easy once they are in your vehicle. Thank you for your support.

Dear St Paul’s UCC Women’s Guild: Thank you for sponsoring me for my Washington D.C. trip. I had lots of fun. A couple of my favorite sights were the World War II Memorial, the Holocaust Museum, and the Arlington National Cemetery. The World War Two Memorial was one of my favorite sights because it was very somber and sentimental. The Holocaust Museum was my number one favorite because it was something that represented all the people who were killed and that there are people that I know that are Jewish and they could have died at that time. Last but not least, another one of my favorite sights was the Arlington National Cemetery, because very important people are buried there and we are able to go visit them which is an amazing experience. Overall, I had one of the best experiences of my life and I am extremely happy I got to go. Once again thank you so much. Sincerely, Hannah

MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 11, 2019 CONSISTORY MEETING

The regular meeting of St. Paul’s UCC Consistory was called to order at 6:01 p.m. by President Doug Spencer. Pastor Rhonda Hainer opened the meeting with a reflection that for many people who have experienced a loss, whether it be a job loss, change in marital status, health decline, death of a loved one, Christmas can be more Blue than red or green. Being sensitive to others who may not be rejoicing this season is important for the Consistory to keep in mind. Each member was given a copy of Zephaniah 3:17 to share with others as an antidote to discouragement/depression this season. “The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Present: Elders: Joyce Roth, Jane Laird, Jane Nuss, Marsha Landers, and Ralph Heckler; Trustees: Kyle Opperman and Greg Walters; Deacons: Doug Spencer, Jerry Lucas, Kelly Kill, Melinda Silber, Carolyn Waesch, Lynda Hadley, Lynn Schmidt and Karen James.
