The SchoolRajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property
Law, popularly known as the IIT Law School, is
one of a kind law school fostering the
interests of technologists from various fields,
to produce a new breed of lawyers equipped
with the knowledge and skills to handle
sophisticated legal matters, including
complex commercial transactions and cases.
As the only Law School within the IIT system,
it was set up in the year 2006 in technical
collaboration with the George Washington
University Law School, Washington DC. The
School also has a research collaboration
(focusing on IP and Computer Science) with
the University of Western Ontario.
The School imparts full-time intellectual
property law education along with the core-
legal subjects as prescribed by the Bar
Council of India. Within six years of its
commencement the school has created a
niche for itself amongst the top law schools in
India.

The expertise of the students in their respective
fields of science, technology and medicine, give
them an edge in critical legal understanding.
Through modern classroom techniques and
dynamic teaching methods students integrate
their expertise in enhancement of their legal
acumen.
Along with the academic focus the students
engage themselves in various activities of societies
and clubs like Socratic Society, Moot Court Society,
Legal Aid & IP Facilitation Clinic and Law & Business
Society.
The students have also won accolades in Moot
Court Competitions, Debating Events, national and
international Essay Competitions and also
published papers in leading journals.
The students have been actively involved in
national level projects like Ganga River Basin
Management Project. The students are further
associated with industry through projects like
DART-IP which provides them firsthand experience
and industry exposure.
About the Batch

AdmissionsStudents are admitted through:
— Two Stage All India Examination Conducted by IIT Kharagpur: Written and GD/PI— LSAT - World Scores also accepted in lieu of the written test.
The eligibility criteria for admission to the LL.B. program is:
First Class Bachelors Degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine or equivalent; orFirst Class Masters Degree in Science or Pharmacy; orFirst Class MBA Degree with any of the above.
