DISCIPLINE/TRADE: BP#16 – Electrical
DWG./SPEC. REFERENCE: 28 13 00
QUESTION:
Spec Section 28 13 00 - Access Control (3.2A & 3.2B), states to the access control
integrator that cabling has been provided and installed by others and is coiled up in
the respective MDF/IDF room at the junction box at each door. This leads us to
believe that composite cables called for on the symbol legend found on drawing Y-
001 dated 7/27/18, are to be furnished & installed under BP#16. See attached
drawing Y-001, dated 7/27/18. The description for "CR" (card reader) included on
the security symbol legend, provides direction for installing composite cables to
each card reader, however goes on to state that "conduits and back boxes" shall be
provided & installed by the contractor awarded this project and refers us to
drawing T-200. The description does not state that the contractor awarded this
project is to provide and install the access control cables, as it does for other
symbols on the legend such as cameras. Lastly, the access control details found on
drawing Y-200, as referenced on the symbol legend on drawing Y-001, do not
show any cables in the conduits to accessible ceilings as the details for items where
cabling is clearly to be provided by BP#16 do (please see attached). Please clarify
if access control system cabling is to be furnished and installed under BP#16.

Access control cabling, backboxes, and conduit are to be furnished and installed by
the contractor awarded this project per Y-001.
