Marathon

• This event is simple – you will be given a topic and you have to talk for as long as possible, saying everything that you know about it.

• When you can’t think of anything else to say your time is up!

• You will be competing against your partner – and the other athletes in the class.

• You will be presented with a statement that is an argument for one side of a question.

• You have to pick as many holes in it as possible (giving the other side of the argument, but also explaining why the argument/statement given is flawed and weak).

• Make as many points as you can – your partner will reward you for each correct point.

• Swap and then test your partner!

Archery• Your partner will present you with a key term or key concept

from the course.• You have to give the correct definition.• If your definition is perfect you will get a bulls’ eye (5 points)• If your definition is correct but lacks clear explanation or is

slightly inaccurate you will receive 3 points• If your definition is vaguely correct but lacks accuracy you will

receive 1 point• If your definition is incorrect you will be deducted 2 points

from your current total.• Swap and test your partner!

Volleyball

• You will be given a series of 10 mark exam questions that you need to answer correctly to ‘return’ to partner.

• Your partner will have the indicative content from the examiner – you need to identify at least 50% of the indicative content to ‘return’ to your partner.

• If you answer correctly you score 1 point.• If you can not answer/answer incorrectly you drop

the volleyball and your partner scores 1 point

• You will be given on side of the argument, and your partner the other.

• You have to give your arguments and support them – the one with the strongest argument wins.

• Teacher may need to referee!

Everything I Know About Politics…Challenge

• Using the cards on this page to construct diagram of the UK political system on an A3 piece of paper.

• Write everything you know/can remember about what you have learned.

• When you have finished, use the textbook to fill in any gaps—highlighting these as areas to focus your revision on.

Bonus Challenge: Examine the relationships between the different branches of government in terms of checks and balances – especially how each branch scrutinises the others.
