A – God reveals in His written Word* how He created the universe, * how the world was ruined by sin, and * how God has sent the Savior into the world to save mankind from the consequences of sin.

A – The word “Bible” means “Book”.

3. What does the word “Bible” mean?

A – The Bible is like a library in that the Bible is divided into two main sections:

* The Old Testament, where God reveals His promise to send the Savior into

the world through the nation of Israel; and

* The New Testament, where God reveals the Savior, Jesus,

and what He has done as the Savior of the world.

4. How is the Bible like a library?

Each of these two main sections is divided into three groups:* History (of Israel or of Jesus and the Church);* Literature or Letters (Epistles); and* Prophets or Prophecy (Revelation).

A – God wrote The Old Testament through Moses and the Prophets; and

The New Testament through the Apostles and Evangelists.

A – There are 66 books in the Bible:

39 books in the OT and 27 books in the NT.

A – The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew and Aramaic; and

A – The purpose of the Bible is to show us the way of salvation by teaching us what Jesus has done as our Savior and Lord.
