Marmara University with more than 3000 distinguished faculty members and a student body reaching 60.000, located in several di-fferent campuses scattered throughout the most important city of our country, Istanbul, following a great tradition has been one of the leading institutions of higher education in Turkey for 124 years.

Together with the Faculties of Engineering, Medicine and Dentistry where the medium of instruction is in Turkish and English, Mar-mara University also comprises the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences which provides education in four different languages: Turkish, English, French and German, thus making Marmara University the only “multi-lingual” university in Turkey. Both the faculty and the students compete in their participation and dedication to acade-mic work to enhance the educational quality and the effective implementation of scientific studies in our university. The primary mission of Marmara University is not only to provide up-to-date contemporary education to fulfill the requirements of today’s modern society but also to prepare the students for the future through participatory democratic adminis-tration that is in accordance with Ataturk’s Principles and Reforms. In pursuit of these goals, 2839 faculty members are employed, including 558 professors, 234 associate pro-fessors, 569 assistant professors, 237 lectu-rers, 987 research assistants, 172 instructors, 78 specialists, and 3 translators, 1 education

planner along with 1354 administrative per-sonnel working at various units. About 500 of our faculty members also teach at other universities, thus sharing their knowledge and experience.As of the 2005-2006 academic year, a count of 51.227 students, 2839 faculty members and 1354 administrative personnel make Marmara University the third biggest university in Turkey. Our university, with its 13 faculties, 9 vocational schools of higher education, 11 institutes, and 31 research cen-ters, is situated in 13 different locations, most

Our university is one of the few Turkish universities, which is a member of the European University Association (EUA). The faculties of Engineering and Technical Education are also carrying out their international studies through ABET. The faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and the Institute of Social Sciences are in the process of prepa-ration for the quality assessment carried out by EQUIS, an international system of accreditation in management and business administration in Europe. The Institute of Social Sciences is now an institutional member of EFMD, European Foundation for Management Development.

Turkey is planning for the new year a wide range of life experiences to discover its beaches, Turkish cuisine, enjoy shopping or enjoy the scenery practicing outdoor sports. In addition, the fate promote its artistic and cultural activities planned for 2013 in Istanbul.With spring, the city of Istanbul will become the site of numerous cultural events like the International Film Festival, between March 30 and April 14, the Theatre Festival in May, the Music in May and June, and the Jazz, to be held in July. Between September 14 and November 10 must be held resche-dule, the Istanbul Biennial.But elsewhere in Turkey will become cultural centers such

as Ankara, the Turkish capital, with UçanSüpürge Film Festival-May-flying broom, and An-talya on the Mediterranean coast, with Altin Portakal Film Festival (golden orange), known as 'the Oscars' of Turkish cinema, held between 6 and 12 October.Also in Antalya will be held between June and July, the Festival In-ternational Aspendos Opera and Ballet.The country held the XVII Mediterranean Games in Mersin, between 20 and 30 June of 2013, and the struggles of the oil, from 1 to 7 July in Kirkpinar / Edirne, an event declared a World Heritage Site in 2010.From 22 to 27 October, Istanbul will host WTA Tennis Championships for the second consecutive year, while Belek / Antalya host, between 7 and 10 November, the European Golf Tour, which will bring together the top 78 golfers international level.

Opened in April 2011, Salt hosts exhibitions, conferences and public programs; engages in interdisciplinary research projects; and sustains Research, a library and archive of recent art, architecture, design, urbanism, and social and economic histories to make them available for research and public use. Comprising an extensive library that focuses on the arts, architecture, design, urbanism, and so-cial and economic history, as well as an archive of physical and digital documents, Salt Research is the hub of Salt Galata and fills the building’s 650 square meter central atrium. The floor and mezzanine of the atrium previously served as the bank branch and still house the entrances to the original bank safes.

Is a private fine arts museum in Istanbul, Turkey, dedicated to calligraphic art, religious and state documents, as well as paintings of the Ottoman era. The museum was founded by Sakıp Sabancı, and was opened in June 2002. Aside from permanent exhibitions, the museum also hosts national and foreign temporary exhibitions.

Is a museum of contemporary art in the Beyoglu district of Istanbul, Turkey. Inaugurated on December 11, 2004, the museum prominently features the work of Turkish artists. The chief curator of the museum is Levent Calikoglu, and the chair of the board of directors is Oya Eczacıbası.
