REVELATION CHAPTER 20SATAN BOUND

1,000 YEARS

Page 3: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

SATAN BOUND 1,000 YEARS

• 20 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.

Page 4: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

COMMENTS 20:1-3

• An angel has the key, this time an angel comes with the key and a large chain. It is this unnamed angel who takes hold of the dragon and bound him for thousand years.

• I want to stress again that Satan isn’t match for Jesus. He’s been already kicked from heaven by angels. When he was Lucifer, he was the highest ranked angel, and as a slap to his pride he was send out by Michael the archangel.

• Four names: dragon, serpent of old, devil and Satan.

• Satan bound, and locked in the Abyss for 1000 years (Rev. 20:1-3)

• Satan’s impotence, compared to the mighty power of Christ.

Page 5: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• Bottomless pit (the abyss), same of Rev 9:1-2; which is not the lake of fire.

• Thousand years (Millennium), John has revelation of 1,000 years even thou he saw it in a temporal vision.

• Psalm 90:4; 4 For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it is past, And like a watch in the night.

• In our days, Evil and Satan temptations are everywhere. However, we Christians are blessed with the promise that no temptation would be greater than what we can take, and that God will provide us a way to escape the temptation. (1Cor. 10:13).

Page 6: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

THE SAINTS REIGN WITH CHRIST 1,000 YEARS

• 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

Page 7: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• First resurrection; is the rising of all believers, these are called “Blessed and Holy” and it goes with Jesus teaching in Luke 14:14; and John 5:29.

• The second death, which is the lake of fire has no effect over the blessed and holy.

• Saints Become priests of God and of Christ

• Saints reign whit Christ for a thousand years.

Page 8: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• The mark of the beast. The mark represents allegiance

• Definition of allegiance.

• 1 a : the obligation of a feudal vassal to his liege lord.

• 1 b : the fidelity owed by a subject or citizen to a sovereign or government.

• I pledge allegiance to my country.

• I believe that this mark will be more notorious than a mark on the hand or on the forehead. It will be the life style of an individual, it will be one that goes in full alignment with all the doctrines and tenets of the antichrist, thus making the individual recognizable by the ones of the same species.

Page 9: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

SATANIC REBELLION CRUSHED

• 7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Page 10: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• Another failed intent of war. Once 1000 years were completed, Satan was released. Unrelenting in his purposes, he sets about making war again gathering all the nations of the earth on his side.

• However, once again this was a war that never happened.

• Yes, it was planned, and the great number of armies gathered for battle, in spite of that, they never got to fire a shot or swing a sword as fire came down out from Heaven and devoured them all (Revelation 20:7-9).

• The devil was cast down into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are.

Page 11: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

THE GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGMENT

• 11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Page 12: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

GREAT WHITE THRONE

• The Great white throne, represents the throne of the Kingdom of God.

• Jesus holds the Key of David (Rev 3:7) seats on the throne, as He is the King of God’s Kingdom.

• Rev 3:21 says: “21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.”

• Earth and heaven fled away. Earth and heaven fled away from the face of the One who sat upon the throne. This symbolises that Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords. There is no place for earthly kingdoms neither for those of temporary heavenly places in the eternal heaven.

Page 13: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

COMMENTS REVELATION 20:11-15

• Books were opened These books exist right now and they are a witness.

• The books that record what God will is for you. The books of the Bible.

• The books that record every deed people have done. With our doings and sayings we are causing one of these books to be written right now.

• The most important thing you can do today is to ensure that your sins have been "blotted out" of the record of your deeds (Acts 3:19).

• The book called "The Book of Life" which has the names of all the friends and servants of Jesus.

• Now is the time to have your name registered in that book.

Page 14: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

COMMENTS REVELATION 20:13-15

• Cast into the lake.

• John saw The Dragon, the Beast and the False prophet cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10).

• Now he sees Death and Hades cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:14).

• Following that, all whose names were not found written in the Book of Life were cast in too (Revelation 20:15).

• The second death. This lake of fire and brimstone is called by John “the second death”.

• It is in contrast with “the first resurrection” (Revelation 20:6).

Page 15: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

REVELATION CHAPTER 21ALL THINGS MADE NEW

Page 16: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

ALL THINGS MADE NEW

• 21 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Page 17: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

A NEW HEAVEN, A NEW EARTH AND A NEW JERUSALEM

• A new blessed and eternal life.

• The heaven and earth that passed away is the ones which God created in the beginning (Genesis 1:1-31).

• The Apostle Peter mentions that in: 2 Peter 3:12-13 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

• There was no more Sea!

• No more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.

Page 18: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• New Jerusalem John sees a beautiful city descend upon the new heaven and earth. He calls it "the holy city, the new Jerusalem" (Revelation 21:2; 3:12)

• The new city looks like a bride; furthermore John says: “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them…meaning that God will dwell with men.

• First there was the Tabernacle of Moses, replaced by the Temple in Jerusalem, and now we have fellowship with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ, (1 John 1:3).

• But now God Himself will be the with them.

Page 19: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• 5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

• 6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

Page 20: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

ALL THINGS NEW• "The first things have passed away... behold I am making all things

new" (Revelation 21:4-5). This new heavenly world will be full of unending gladness.

• Alpha and Omega. Meaning: "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last" (Revelation 21:6, 22:13).

• Water of life The water of life promised by Jesus in John 4:14. Eternal life is the greatest promise and gift ever offered to human beings. Yet it is freely available to anyone who thirsts for it.

• There's an inheritance for all the sons of God (Ephesians 1:11). Any man or woman can become a son of God (Romans 8:15-17).

• Second death. (Revelation 21:8, 20:10,14). This second death is terrible, it’s the lake of fire.

Page 21: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

THE NEW JERUSALEM

• 9 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. 12 Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13 three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.

Page 22: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• 14 Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 And he who talked with me had a gold reed to measure the city, its gates, and its wall. 16 The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal. 17 Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.

Page 23: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• 18 The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. 19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

Page 24: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

THE GLORY OF THE NEW JERUSALEM

• 22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. 24 And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. 25 Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). 26 And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. 27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Page 25: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

REVELATION CHAPTER 22THE RIVER OF LIFE

Page 26: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

THE RIVER OF LIFE

• 22 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. 4 They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. 5 There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.

Page 27: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• At the beginning, there was a river in the Garden of Eden (Gen 2:7 10) Here at the end at the end of the visions of John we have a River of Life.

• Water of Life. Jesus told to the woman at the well about this "living water" , on other occasion, Jesus spoke of this "living water" meaning the gift of the Holy Spirit (John 7:37-39).

• Flowed from the Lamb God is "the fountain of living waters" (Jeremiah 2:13).

• So the river that flows out from the throne of God and the Lamb represents "the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father" (John 15:26). The Holy Spirit is given to us a pledge or guarantee of eternal life (Ephesians 1:13-14).

Page 28: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

THE FULLNESS OF GOD

• In this vision the fullness of God is represented by:

• The Father. The one who sits on the throne ( Revelation 4:2-6),

• The Son. The Lamb who sits with the Father on the throne (Rev 3:21, 5:4-10).

• The Holy Spirit. The river proceeding from the throne.

Page 29: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• The street takes to the River of the water of life and to the tree of life.

• The first disciples were mentioned as the followers of "the Way“, mentioned in Acts 24:14,22 and Hebrews 10:19-20.

• We ourselves are walking on the way of obedience to our Lord until His coming. He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).

• The tree of life. In Eden, there were the tree of life, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:9). The second was forbidden, but the tree of life was not.

• After the fall, access to this tree was denied; but Jesus Christ made possible again for us to have access to eternal life (Romans 6:23).

• Twelve fruits, 12 months of the year, and 12 kinds at fruits.

• Healing leaves. Its leaves give healing. We can walk to the river and pick from the tree. We are not forbidden, but invited.

Page 30: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

THE TIME IS NEAR

• 6 Then he said to me, “These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place.

• 7 “Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

• 8 Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.

Page 31: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

WORDS OF JESUS• Revelation 22:7,12-13,16-17

• I am coming quickly "Behold I am coming quickly" Revelation focus timing in a different way. "With the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day"(2Peter 3:8-9).

• The souls under the altar cried, "How long?", God declares that there still some people on earth (Revelation 6:10-11).

• Revelation cares about your lifetime. You are near to the last day because "it is appointed for man once to die, and after this comes judgment" (Hebrews 9:27-28).

• Blessed is he who heeds "Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book." (Revelation 22:7). This is the final beatitude given by Jesus, repeated with a promise further down in verse 14.

Page 32: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• 9 Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.” 10 And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. 11 He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.”

Page 33: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• Do not seal up the words. John's book is not to be sealed. It is being fulfilled already, it is the gospel message, The mystery revealed, the message for today.

• Daniel’s prophecy. The angel told him to seal up his book (Daniel 12:4). People could read it, but its fulfillment was far off.

• "He who acts unjustly, let him act unjustly still…

• The angel is not saying it is ok to be us you are now. He means that now is a time for decision.

• You can stay filthy if you wish, or you can become holy.

• You can stay holy if you wish, or you can become filthy.

• You won't always have the option, but for the time being you do.

• How you are found on the last day, in that state you will remain forever. forever.

Page 34: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• Blessed are those who obey. They will have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city."(Revelation 22:14).

• Anyone has a right to the tree of life. Nobody is excluded. However there is condition. You have to do Christ's commandments. If you don't do them, forfeit any right that might have been yours.

• Outside are dogs. The dogs are the wicked, those who don't do the commandments of Jesus Christ.

• The message is not about making lists of sins. The message is assuring us that there won't be any wickedness or wicked people in heaven.

Page 35: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

JESUS TESTIFIES TO THE CHURCHES

• 12 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

• 14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. 15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

Page 36: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book." (Revelation 22:7).

• My reward is with me. (Revelation 22:12). He brings the recompense.• This statement of Jesus is either a promise or a threat—depending upon

whether or not one's work is to keep the commandments of Jesus.

• I am the first and last. Jesus is claiming to be God and equal with his Father. Only Almighty God can be called "The First and the Last" (Isaiah 44:6).

Page 37: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• 16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”

• 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.

Page 38: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

I JESUS HAVE SENT MY ANGEL

• To testify these things to you in the congregations. This is Jesus's own testimony about John's sources. We noted that John said this, the angel said it. And now Jesus says it.

• "I am the root and the offspring of David”, “the bright and Morning Star “ (Revelation 22:16). Jesus, even in heaven mentions than he is: The Son of God and the son of David.

• Jesus is glorious like the sun, the star that rises in the morning.

• Remember:

• The name Lucifer means morning star and has been stolen by the Devil, the father of lies (Isaiah 14:12).

Page 39: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• Whoever will, let him come

• 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.

• This invitation is for all,

• But especially for you.

• There is no other invitation as important as this one.

• You may have let pass many invitations in your life.

• But this is the best of all by far. Don't miss out on this.

• Accept God's invitation without delay.

Page 40: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

A WARNING

• 18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

• I Am Coming Quickly

• 20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”

• Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

• 21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Page 41: Revelation 20, 21 and 22

• If anyone adds... or takes away

• We need to be very careful with the use of the word of God, we cannot add our own doctrines, and or discard parts of it.

• JOHN WARNS SEVERERELY against that. John's statement shows that he regarded this book as holy scripture and not to be tampered with.

• Amen, Come Lord Jesus!

• After all that John has heard and seen, he is more than ready for the Lord to come quickly.

• We too, when we have considered his revelation, will respond just as eagerly.
