HE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH of Frankfordwas founded May 4, 1770. The first building cost

2,400 and was used in 1777 to house Hessian pris-oners taken during the Revolutionary War. The oldbuilding was replaced in 1810; here a Sunday Schoolwas organized in 1 8 1 5 . The present church edificewhich was dedicated early in 1 8 6 0 has been improvedand redecorated on several occasions. With the excep-tion of the Friends' Meeting House on Unity Street noother institution in Frankford has continued for so manyyears in the, same place.

Since 1 8 4 9 a period of ninety-six years, there havebeen only two pastorates. The spiritual growth and thehistory of this church, from 1 8 9 5 to the present, havereflected the sincere and earnest endeavor of John BakerLaird. For fifty years his unselfish service has influ-enced and enriched the lives of thousands of people inthis and other communities.
