The vineyard of the Lord is the house of Israel. At vintage time the master will return to receive the harvest. May we bear fruit in plenty, and be pleasing in his sight by living lives that are marked by love and respect.

Jesus, who promised to be with his Church for all time, be glory for ever and ever!

Welcome!

You enter this Church not as a stranger, but as a guest of God. As a baptized person, you enter it as a son or daughter of the Father in Christ.

This House of God, therefore, is your family home. Come in then with humility of mind, joy of heart and thanks on your lips. Come in and pause in prayer in the midst of

your busy life and its many worries.

“Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe”

Following tradition, we will be celebrating Our Lady’s Feast by offering 46 rosaries starting October 28th and ending with the final rosary on December 11th in the church.

Why 46? It is the symbolic number representing the 46 stars imprinted on her mantel.

Rosaries will be offered each day at a different home. Please, join us in this celebration by hosting or attending one of the rosaries!

All that is needed is an altar dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe, and our Virgin will travel from home to home.

The Rosary starts at 7:00 pm. Mary is waiting for you!

For detailed information see one of the volunteers in the narthex or at the parish office!

The readings today are about the vineyard of the Lord. In the first reading we hear about the vineyard being planted with the "choicest vines", the best vines, but when it came time to harvest, to pick the crop of grapes, it yielded wild grapes, bad fruit. The Prophet Isaiah is pointing out to Israel that they are the wild grapes, the bad fruit. Israel has not been true to her calling to witness to the nations of the One true God. In the gospel reading the owner of the vineyard leases his vineyard to tenants. When it is time for harvest, time for the owner to collect his produce, he sends his servants to collect, and the tenants, the workers in the vineyard, beat, kill, and stone the servants. This happened twice. Finally, he sent his son, and they killed him. What do we learn from these passages? All of us are workers in God's vineyard. The question we should ask ourselves today is, "What kind of worker am I? Am I producing good fruit, bad fruit, or no fruit at all? Am I doing my part of the work? Am I being true to all that God is calling me to? When God sends his servants to me, his ministers, those who would help me become a better Catholic, Christian, do I turn them away like the tenants in the gospel or do I welcome their help, their teaching, their wisdom? To help build up God's vineyard I want to encourage each and everyone of you to consider attending the Called and Gifted Workshop which will held, at Our Lady of the Lake, on Friday, October 27th and Saturday, October 28th. All the baptized have been given spiritual gifts to help us grow in faith. We've also been given spiritual gifts that are not for us, but for others, these are called Charisms. In this workshop we will explore the different charisms, and take a look at the possible charisms that you were given at baptism, and how to determine if you have the charism. You can register by calling the Parish Office and asking for Gaby or visit our website, ourladyofthelakeromancatholic.org and register online. All of us have been given a work in the vineyard, God has given us everything that we need for the work, but sometimes we need a little guidance to help us tap into the gifts, the charisms that we've been given to maintain the vineyard. The Owner of the vineyard, God, returns to collect his produce on a regular basis. What kind of fruit will you give Him? Deacon Patrick Toilolo

October is Baby Shower Month Sponsored by Youth Ministry

Pregnancy Care Center helps young mothers who do

not have the resources to help take care of their

newborn babies.

This year they are most in need of: baby wipes, diapers

(Newborn to 5), clothing (Size: Newborn to 2T), baby

blankets, strollers, play pens, high chairs, bottles, and

baby toiletries. Items can be new or gently used. Every

year our parishioners have been extremely generous

with this project, and we look forward to continuing this

trend. Drop your items in the playpens in the narthex.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

God called us to excel in

every aspect of our lives,

including our careers. Work

is an essential part of a

Christian disciple’s life. The

spiritual gifts God has given

you help you to be effective

at your work and to be more

effective witness to your

faith in the workplace. If you are dissatisfied

with your job, or are recently unemployed, your

spiritual gifts are excellent clues for discerning

a new direction. On Friday, October 27th from

7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and Saturday, October

28th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Our parish is

sponsoring a teaching team from the Catherine

offer the introductory Called & Gifted workshop,

which will help you begin to discern your unique

mission in life. Everyone is invited to

Prayer for Vocations

Lord of the Harvest, help us to create a true culture of discernment and vocations in our

parish so that all of us in this parish family may seek to faithfully offer our lives as a loving response to your first gift of life and love.

Illumine our families to be a light, working together to bring your kingdom of

justice and peace, not just here in this community, but in the whole world.

By your Holy Spirit, may our hearts burn more and more to know

Your Son, Jesus Christ, and to make Him known forever. Amen.

Amen.

Youth Ministry Bake Sale

Our youth ministry is having a bake sale on October 21st & 22nd after all scheduled Masses. The money that is raised goes towards sending our youth

to the annual Diocese of Phoenix High School Retreat in Williams, AZ. It costs $7,000 to send 35 of our youth to the retreat every year. Whatever you can do to help is appreciated. We want our youth to experience

this life-giving opportunity.

Family Faith Formation

Family Formation this week you will be working as a family on the Liturgy of the Word. What is the Liturgy of the Word? The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: The liturgical word and action are inseparable both insofar, as they are signs and instruction and insofar as they accomplish what they signify. When the Holy Spirit awakens faith, he not only gives an understanding of the Word of God, but through the sacraments

also makes present the "wonders" of God which it proclaims. The Spirit makes present and communicates the Father's work, fulfilled by the beloved Son. Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) 1153-1155

Parents please pull out the Mass Book to go over the prayers and responses for Mass that is included in your packet. For more information on our program please contact Deacon Jeff Arner or

December 10th.

Additional information can be obtained by calling the Parish Office at 855-2685 and

leave a message for Juan Villa.

Prayer to Saint Michael, the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness

and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the

heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl

about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER (For those who are not able to receive Communion at this time)

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were

already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

How Great Thou Art Stuart K. Hine

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder consider all the worlds thy hands have made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, thy pow’r thru out the universe displayed! Refrain: Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee; how great thou art, how great thou art! Then sings my soul, my savior God, to thee; how great thou art, how great thou art! When thru the woods and forest glades I wander and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees, when I look down from lofty mountain grandeur and hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze. When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration and there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!

The Supper of the Lord Laurence Rosania

Refrain: Precious body, precious blood, here in bread and wine; here the Lord prepares the feast divine. Bread of love is broken now, cup of life is poured; come, share the supper of the Lord. This is the bread of God coming down from heav’n, giving life to us, to all the world. “I am the living spring of eternal life; you that drink from me shall not thirst again.” “I am the bread of heav’n giving life to you; you that eat this bread shall never die.” “All those who feed on me have their life in me, as I have my life in the living God.”

Closing SongClosing SongClosing SongClosing Song ———————————————————

Blest Be the Lord Dan Schutte

Refrain: Blest be the Lord; blest be the Lord, the God of mercy, the God who saves. I shall not fear the dark of night, nor the arrow that flies by day. You will release me from the nets of all my foes. You will protect me from their wicked hands. Beneath the shadow of his wings I will rejoice to find a dwelling place secure. I need not shrink before the terrors of the night nor stand alone before the light of day. No harm shall come to me, no arrow strike me down, no evil settle in my soul.

Remember that the Communion being offered around the back of the Church is strictly reserved for those who are physically unable to safely come forward for Communion. It is also, of

course, for the family or friend who is here to assist the person.

We remember as well, that Our Lord, present in the Blessed Sacrament, is always to be revered and adored. Therefore,

remember to stop and reverence Him in the Blessed Sacrament until He has passed by completely.
