• This import will now behave just like theimport from Excel, by showing a new dialogthat offers more control and clarity of whatwill be done with updating the MerchandisePositions

Page 15: Retail Floor Planner · –When zoomed in, Retail Floor Planner opened the Merchandise Position dialog with the details of the fixture that is behind the toolbar button. –If Retail

• Works on an individual Merchandise Section

– Via right mouse click menu

• Or updates all Merchandise Sections

– Via Tools-Menu

• User selects which fields are updated

– Selection is saved and used as default next time

– Desc 6-10 and Data 6-10 not yet applicable for Retail Shelf Planner and PLN-format

– If applicable renamed labels are applied

• For calculated fields user can also decide in which field the result is stored

Page 19: Retail Floor Planner · –When zoomed in, Retail Floor Planner opened the Merchandise Position dialog with the details of the fixture that is behind the toolbar button. –If Retail

Updating Merchandise Sections with data from planograms (2/5)

• Right mouse click menu depends on

– Planogram file attached• Extension (RSP, PLN, other)

– Database access available• Live planogram available

– Retail Shelf Planner installed

– Other planogram software selected

Page 20: Retail Floor Planner · –When zoomed in, Retail Floor Planner opened the Merchandise Position dialog with the details of the fixture that is behind the toolbar button. –If Retail

Retail Floor PlannerCopyright © Global Retail Business Solutions Ltd.

Updating Merchandise Sections with data from planograms (3/5)

• First checks if a planogram file is linked to the Merchandise Section

– Two formats supported• Retail Shelf Planner rsp-files

• Spaceman pln-files

• Check is done based on extension

– Retail Floor Planner reads the file directly, so no planogram software is needed on the PC

• If no planogram file is linked, a check for a linked planogram in an Retail Merchandising Center database is done (if applicable)

– So it’s possible to have a mix of file and database planograms linked to Merchandise Sections

Page 21: Retail Floor Planner · –When zoomed in, Retail Floor Planner opened the Merchandise Position dialog with the details of the fixture that is behind the toolbar button. –If Retail

Retail Floor PlannerCopyright © Global Retail Business Solutions Ltd.

Updating Merchandise Sections with data from planograms (4/5)

• During and after processing the files, Retail Floor Planner will show a summary

– # Merchandise Sections updated successfully

– # Merchandise Section where update failed

– # Merchandise Section skipped (i.e. without a planogram attached)

• Next it will ask if the Merchandise Positions need to be updated with the new Merchandise Section dimensions

Page 22: Retail Floor Planner · –When zoomed in, Retail Floor Planner opened the Merchandise Position dialog with the details of the fixture that is behind the toolbar button. –If Retail

Retail Floor PlannerCopyright © Global Retail Business Solutions Ltd.

Updating Merchandise Sections with data from planograms (5/5)

• Note that we’re not importing performance data from the planograms

• This is a deliberate decision:

• Planograms are a “snapshot” in time

– Created at different moments, with different datasets. E.g.• Beer, based on data for weeks 4-12

• Juices, based on data for weeks 5-13

• Bread, based on data for weeks 7-15

• Sun Cream, based on data for weeks 8-16 of last year

• …

– It doesn’t make sense to consolidate these sets of data into a floorplan and then base decisions on it

Page 23: Retail Floor Planner · –When zoomed in, Retail Floor Planner opened the Merchandise Position dialog with the details of the fixture that is behind the toolbar button. –If Retail

Other Improvements

• The following other changes have been applied

– When the user worked with an external monitor on the left of the laptop screen, a dialog that was displayed there would not be re-centered on the laptop when working without the external monitor.

– The dialog to define position labels did not pick up the renamed labels for the Data fields.

– When zoomed in, Retail Floor Planner opened the Merchandise Section dialog with the details of the Merchandise Section that is behind the toolbar button.

– When zoomed in, Retail Floor Planner opened the Merchandise Position dialog with the details of the fixture that is behind the toolbar button.

– If Retail Floor Planner is already active, starting a second/third/… instance will be faster

– Improved performance of Merchandise Section space & label calculations

Draw segment lines in fixtures

• Option to define Segment Width for the Fixture

– If left 0, drawing remains as it is now

– If number is added, Segment Lines are drawn

– If total length is not a multiple of the Segment Width, the last segment is the smaller one

Page 26: Retail Floor Planner · –When zoomed in, Retail Floor Planner opened the Merchandise Position dialog with the details of the fixture that is behind the toolbar button. –If Retail

Retail Floor PlannerCopyright © Global Retail Business Solutions Ltd.

New Fixture Type - Round (1/3)

• User can enter Height and the diameter of the Fixture

• X- and Z-coordinates are based on top left corner if a square was drawn around

– Similar to the behavior of round Obstructions

Page 27: Retail Floor Planner · –When zoomed in, Retail Floor Planner opened the Merchandise Position dialog with the details of the fixture that is behind the toolbar button. –If Retail

Retail Floor PlannerCopyright © Global Retail Business Solutions Ltd.

New Fixture Type - Round (2/3)

• A Merchandise Position that is placed on a round Fixture will automatically be given the same shape and dimensions (Width = Depth = diameter)

– Consequentially you can place only 1 Merchandise Position on a round Fixture

• When a Merchandise Position is dragged from a round Fixture onto a rectangular Fixture, it is given the Width and Depth as defined in the Merchandise Section

• Changing from another fixture type to the Round fixture, or from the Round fixture to another type, will cause all positions on the fixture to be lost

New Fixture Type - 4-Way (3/3)

• Each side “behaves” like sides of the existing I-Beam fixtures

• See bottom right 4-Way for alignment when Merchandise Sections don’t properly fill the fixture

• Changing from another fixture type to the 4-Way fixture, or from the 4-Way fixture to another type, will cause all positions on the fixture to be lost

Other Improvements

• The following other changes have been applied

– The Highlight Top/Bottom analysis always used Sales for the calculations, irrespective of the selected analysis field. This has been corrected.

– When used with a large number of Merchandise Sections it was possible that due to rounding, the Highlight Top/Bottom analysis included or excluded a Merchandise Section that was on the “edge” of the Top or Bottom group. This has been made more sensitive.

Allocate Merchandise Sections Dialog

• If the screen resolution is too low, or the Windows scaling percentage set too high, the Allocate Merchandise Sections dialog doesn’t fit fully on the screen

– Now Retail Floor Planner will display an error message, and will automatically hide the fixture visual to make the dialog smaller, and hopefully fit on the screen
