My parents make me hoover the living room, mop the kitchen, take the rubbish
out ... It makes me feel cross because ...
Introduction du verbe LET + pronom complément +verbe ( qui suit la construction de MAKE + pronom complément + verbe ) Ex : Do your parents let you go out on Saturdays ? Et reprise de « How do you feel when they don't let you go out ? »: It makes me feel cross ...

In attack's wake, political repercussions. Mark Lacey for the New York Times, January 2011.
TUCSON — Representative Gabrielle Giffords, an Arizona Democrat, and at least 17 others were shot Saturday morning when a gunman opened fire outside a
supermarket where Ms. Giffords was meeting with constituents.
Six of the victims died, among them a 9-year-old girl, the Pima County sheriff, Clarence W. Dupnik, said.
Ms. Giffords, 40, was in critical condition Sunday morning at the University Medical Center in Tucson, where she was operated on by a team of neurosurgeons
on Saturday.
President Obama, speaking at the White House, confirmed that a suspect was in custody and said that the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation was on
his way to Arizona to oversee the investigation.
Investigators identified the gunman as Jared Lee Loughner, 22, and said that he was refusing to cooperate with the authorities. Mr. Loughner was in custody with
the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Saturday night, the Pima Country sheriff’s office said. Mr. Loughner had exhibited increasingly strange behavior in recent
months, including ominous Internet postings — at least one showing a gun.
Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona, issued one of the strongest statements, saying: “I am horrified by the violent attack on Representative Gabrielle
Giffords and many other innocent people by a wicked person who has no sense of justice or compassion. I pray for Gabby and the other victims, and for the
repose of the souls of the dead and comfort for their families.”
Speaking on the White House, Barack Obama said : “It’s not surprising that today Gabby was doing what she always does: listening to the hopes and concerns of
her neighbors,” Mr. Obama said during a news conference Saturday, calling her an “extraordinary public servant.” “Obviously, our hearts go out to the family
members of those who have been slain.” “We’re going to get to the bottom of this, and we’re going to get through this,” he said.
This episode will again divide people on the question of gun control. Barack Obama promised stronger gun control for the future.

The Time Traveller looked at us, and then at the mechanism. ‘Well?’ said the Psychologist. ‘This little affair,’ said the Time Traveller, resting his elbows upon the table and pressing his hands together above the apparatus, ‘is only a model. It is my plan for a machine to travel through time. You will notice that it looks singularly askew, and there is an odd “twinkling” appearance about this bar, as though it was some way unreal.’ He pointed to the part with his finger. ‘Also, here is one little white lever, and here is another.’ The Medical Man got up out of his chair and peered into the thing. ‘It's beautifully made,’ he said. ‘It took two years to make,’ retorted the Time Traveller. Then, when we had all imitated the action of the Medical Man, he said: ‘Now I want you clearly to understand that this lever, being pressed over, sends the machine gliding into the future, and this other reverses the motion. This saddle represents the seat of a time traveller. Presently I am going to press the lever, and off the machine will go. It will vanish, pass into future Time, and disappear. Have a good look at the thing. Look at the table too, and satisfy yourselves there is no trickery. I don't want to waste this model, and then be told I'm a quack.’ There was a minute’s pause perhaps. The Psychologist seemed about to speak to me, but changed his mind. Then the Time Traveller put forth his finger towards the lever. ‘No,’ he said suddenly. ‘Lend me your hand.’ And turning to the Psychologist, he took that individual’s hand in his own and told him to put out his forefinger. So that it was the Psychologist
himself who sent forth the model Time Machine on its interminable voyage. We all saw the lever turn. I am absolutely certain there was no trickery. There was a breath of wind, and the lamp flame jumped. One of the candles on the mantel was blown out, and the little machine suddenly swung round, became indistinct, was seen as a ghost for a second perhaps, as an eddy of faintly glittering brass and ivory; and it was gone-- vanished! Save for the lamp the table was bare. Everyone was silent for a minute. Then Filby said he was damned. ………………………………………………, H. G. Wells, …………...

But there sat the box taking up desk space. It was addressed to her as 'Museum Spokesperson'. Catherine Morris Perry didn't like being addressed as
a 'Spokesperson'. That she was so addressed probably stemmed from the statement she'd given the Washington Post on museum policy. It had been
more or less an accident, the whole thing. The reporter's call had been referred to her only because someone was sick in the public affairs office, and
someone else was away from his desk, and whoever had handled the call had decided a lawyer should deal with it. It concerned Henry Highhawk
again, obliquely at least. It concerned the trouble he was stirring up about returning aboriginal skeletal remains. And the Post had called and
identified her incorrectly as spokesperson, and quoted her when they should have quoted the museum board of directors.
Catherine Morris Perry put all the envelopes aside unopened, looked at the box, and made a wry face. She opened her desk drawer and extracted
her letter opener. Then she buzzed Mrs. Bailey.
'Yes'um'
'Mrs. Bailey. When packages arrive like this, don't bring them in and put them on my desk. Open them and get the contents out.'
'Okay,' Mrs. Bailey said. 'I'll open it now. It's a heavy thing.' She paused. 'Mrs. Paterson always wanted all the mail put in on her desk.'
'I'll open it', Catherine said. 'I meant from now on. And Mrs. Paterson is on leave. She is not in charge now.'
With her free hand Catherine Perry was slicing the tape away with the letter opener. She thought that this box was probably a result of that story in
the Washington Post.
'There was a message from somebody in the anthropology division. I put her name on the slip. Wants you to call. Said it was about the Indians
wanting their skeletons back.'
'Right,' Catherine said. She pulled open the top flaps. Under them was a copy of the Washington Post.
MUSEUM OFFERS COMPROMISE IN OLD BONE CONTROVERSY
The headline irritated Catherine. There had been no compromise.
'' Mrs. Catherine Perry , an attorney for the museum and its spokesperson on this issue, said the demand by the Paho Society. For the reburial of
the collection of more than 18.000 Native American skeletons was 'simply not possible in light of the museum's purpose.' ''.

My ex-best friend makes my life a
misery
Posted on March 26th, 2013 by Jessie
My ex-best friend is making my life a misery. I suffer paranoia because of him, and also stress. We had a fight in April this year, and after that, he’ s
been speaking about me behind my back, calling me names, bullying me because I wear specs etc. But- sometimes he’s my friend & we hang out
with each other. It’s hard for me to stop speaking with him- he’s in all my classes in school!
We all have best friends list, and on our list we put the very best friends first- I used to be 3rd, then next day I was 19th! I’ m confused, and I am sad.
I don’t want to go to school. Sometimes he insults me and I don’t know whether he’s joking or not…
What can I do?
I’ve considered going in another class, but I have some close friends in the current class I am in. My friends are also his friends… It’s a really bad
position & I hate being in it. I don’t know what to do, and I hate being in his class. Help!!
