International Spotlight: Alix Moews

Cold. Rain. Freezing cold. I thought that I had escaped the cold back home in the snowy land of Iowa, to come to Australia, the “warm, sunny” destination. I guess when people reference Australia they temporarily forget that there is, in fact, a winter season here. Not being able to walk around outside without shoes on has taken a while to get used to, but I got myself a pair of Ugg boots at Target and now I’m all set. Along with the cold, the stress of exams and assignments has been weighing down on me (and everyone else on res), making it even

harder to get out of my bed in the morning...and I know I’m not the only one.

Res sports have been keeping me occupied (and distracted) from doing my classwork, especially when I have quite a few friends and housemates playing. I normally hate watching sport, but if I know who’s playing, I can spare my attention...and my yelling...for a few hours.

My mind was blown last night by a lot of my friends when I found out that they have voices that sound as if angels had made a home in my ears. Who knew that everyone on res was so talented? More than that, they got up on stage and rocked it, without much nerves. I just want everyone who performed last night to know that you are all my idols...and you can take turns serenading me if you’d like.

Lastly, I would like to thank this graffiti artist for answering every question my friends from back home ask me in one simple patch of cement:

Jokes of the week

Two snowmen are standing next to each other in a yard. One says to the other, “Funny, I smell carrots too.”

Intercampus Clash

Unfortunately due to large amounts of people pulling out of the teams today we have had to withdraw Warrnambool entry. This is very disappointing for the Warrnambool Campus. Much time and money has been put into this event by Wolves members and the event organizers in Geelong. Apologies to all those who have gotten off work or changed plans to play. Events run for the student body can only do so with student support can commitment from those students.
