signature of member

component are indicators

of the health of the

component under study

These vibration signatures (signals) carry

immense information in them which is being

diagnosed using machine learning methods like

support vector machines (SVM) neural networks

and fuzzy logic

The statistical data from these vibration signals

are extracted and the predominant features which

characterize the faults are identified using J48

algorithm and further this data is processed using

machine learning method Unlike Fourier

transform Wavelet transform is capable of

dealing with all transients in vibration signals and

the researcher has made use of wavelet features

also in condition monitoring of gear box under

study Both continuous wavelets and discrete

wavelets features are used Hilbert transform also

has been used in the study and its efficiency is

evaluated He has focused his studies on a bevel

gear box and analyzed various machine learning

methods and found the most suitable method

which learns and monitors the condition of the

gear box under study He has around 13

publications in his name

The extraction of histogram features from the

vibration signal of the different conditions of the

gear box under investigation and the application

of machine learning method support vector

machine in machine condition monitoring and

diagnostics He used classification methods for

microstructural and fractographic studies for each

joint He analyzed the variation in tensile strength

hardness and grain size for each joint and

presented Fractographic analysis clearly shows

that the failure has occurred due to ductile

fracture A greater reduction in grain size was

observed in stir zone and concluded that this could

be reason for increase in mechanical behavior of

the joint

recently published

research paper she aimed to assess the interaction

between bacteria and food processing surfaces

using novel methods Microbial cross

contamination between stainless steel a common

food processing material and raw chicken was

studied using microbiological culture specialized

microscope and molecular techniques Confocal

laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) allowed the

visualization of biofilms containing single or dual

species of Escherichia coli O157H7 Salmonella

typhimurium Bacillus cereus Staphylococcus

aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa formed after

6 daysrsquo incubation on stainless steel or 4h on raw

chicken The results provided information on

intrabiofilm location and stratification of species

within dual species biofilms Top-to-bottom Z-

stack images revealed that on both materials S

typhimurium and E coli attached concurrently

the former in greater numbers E coli and B

cereus segregated on steel E coli more frequent

near the metal surface B cereus almost the only

species in outer layers Few cells of S aureus

found at all depths were seen in the 29 microm thick

biofilm on steel with E coli Greatest attachment

was shown by P aeruginosa followed by S

typhimurium E coli and finally Gram positive

species Large amounts of EPS in P aeruginosa

biofilms made visualization difficult on both

materials but especially on chicken meat a

limitation of this technique Nevertheless CLSM

was useful for determining time sequence of

adhesion and species makeup of thin biofilms

The technique showed that five min contact

between bacterially-contaminated chicken and

sterile steel resulted in greatest transfer of 341

P aeruginosa followed by S typhimurium This

was confirmed using DGGE Gram positive

bacteria transferred poorly A biofilm containing

23 times 105 cfucmminus2 B cereus on steel transferred

an undetectable number of cells to chicken after 5

min contact This species was unable to form

biofilm on chicken when incubated for 4 h in

growth medium S typhimurium and

Paeruginosas were most efficiently transferred

from contaminated steel to raw chicken within 5

min contact with 20ndash30 transfer from single

species biofilms All other species and all cells in

dual species biofilms showed less than 2

transfer CLSM and DGGE were shown to be

useful techniques for the study of bacterial

adhesion to stainless steel

Recent studies have shown that much of the

Omani soil is under saline stress and badly

degraded It is of utmost importance that more

research should be conducted to restore these

lands to mitigate this problem in Oman His

research activities address this contemporary

problem in restoration ecology where he and his

students are trying to understand the salt tolerant

efficacy of some important leguminous plants In

this recently published research work from HCT

Dr Pankaj and his diploma students have shown

that Trigonella foenum-graecum L can survive

very easily in the hot and nutrient poor

environmental conditions of Sultanate of Oman

Hence it can be used as potent nitrogen sequester

species in selected areas of interest to mobilize

significant amounts of nitrogen in arid

agricultural ecosystems This type of study will

not only help in reclaiming the degraded arable

lands but also in sustainable agriculture and future

agro-forestry practice in Oman and Arabia It is

finally concluded that if the farmers are

encouraged to grow this crop in various seasons

then it could fix significant amount of

atmospheric nitrogen in soil This will further

facilitate the farmers and a possible reduction in

the use of chemical fertilizers in agricultural lands

will eventually help saving environment The

conservation of soil can be ensured with increased

use of this species in these parts of the world

Promotion of this plant will also help in

restoration of degraded arable lands of Arabia

In the recently published article with Bachelor

students of HCT Dr Salla Hemadri Reddy

explored information related with Honey and its

bioassay The preliminary phytochemical

evaluation and effect of Honey on Hematological

parameters were investigated Preliminary

phytochemical screening was carried out to

determine the presence of various bioactive

constituents through different Tests The

Antimicrobial study of different Honey in

combination with synergistics was carried out on

selective microorganisms through well diffusion

method The effect of Honey on hemoglobin

WBC Blood Sugar and weight loss was studied

on swiss albino male mice under controlled

conditions for 21 days The Highest percentage of

coumarins (+++) Resins (+++) were found in all

the types of tested Honey among the different

phytochemicals Screened However the absence

of carboxylic carbon and tannins were noticed

during the study The antimicrobial studies along

with different synergistic shown significant

results like Natural Omani Honey exerted 36mm

zone of inhibition against Saureus while Turkish

honey found to be more antimicrobial against P

aeruginosa (40mm) In the present study on

Hematological and physiological parameters it

was observed that increase in WBC with

greatest significance among all the tested Honey

with Natural Turkish Honey we found more

increase of WBC upto 30 These findings

provides the information about the traditional use

of Honey along with various food additives

triggers more beneficial in treating various human

ailments like controlling from microbial diseases

improving WBC to increase immunity etc further

evaluation needs further evaluation and

identification active principles are required for

pharmacological preparations

chemistry that deals with detection and

determination of drugs in pharmaceutical

formulations and biological fluids The

requirement of quality quantity purity and safety

of pharmaceutical formulations and to

differentiate from sub-standard cheap drugs

available in the market is the idea behind his

research works

He developed a new high performance liquid

chromatographic-UV method for determination

of atorvastatin calcium in pharmaceutical

formulations [1] The methods were optimized

and developed as per the International Conference

on Harmonisation guidelines (USA) The method

was based on reversed-phase high performance

liquid chromatographic-UV separation of

atorvastatin at detection wavelength of 246 nm

using Acclaim 120 C18 reversed phase LC

column (5 mm 250times46 mm) with mobile phase

of acetonitrile-dichloromethane-acetic acid (686

306 08 vvv) at a flow rate of 10 mL min-1 at

25degC Different variables affecting

chromatographic separation were carefully

studied and optimized The studied results

provided chromatogram of atorvastatin with

retention time of 268 min The calibration curve

was linear over the concentration range of 15-300

g mL-1 No interference was observed from

common pharmaceutical excipients present in

dosage forms The proposed method was

successfully applied for the assay of atorvastatin

calcium in pharmaceutical formulations and

proved to be significantly not different with

reference method The proposed can be used as an

alternate method for routine quality control

analysis of active atorvastatin in research

hospitals and pharmaceutical laboratories

vanadium speciation (VIV and VV) in

HPLC Field-based application undertaken on

Argentine groundwaters In-situ SPE sampling

Vanadate is the main species depending on the pH

and redox-potential (Eh) The abstract of her

paper reads as ldquoHigh levels of vanadium have

been reported in groundwater (lt005ndash5300 μg

Lminus1 V) from different parts of Argentina yet no

detailed study of vanadium speciation has been

performed A highly selective strong anion

exchange ndash solid phase extraction (SAX-SPE)

method was used (in-situ) for vanadium

speciation analysis of groundwater samples from

La Pampa - LP (General San Martin and Eduardo

Castex) and Buenos Aires - BA (San German)

provinces in Argentina In this method both

vanadyl (VIV) and vanadate (VV) were trapped

by the complexation with disodium

ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid on a pre-

conditioned SAX cartridge In the laboratory

vanadium species were separated at different

eluent pH levels VIV was eluted at pH 4 using

methanol and tetrabutylammonium hydroxide

VV was eluted at pH 8 using dihydrogen

ammonium phosphate The eluted species were

analysed by inductively coupled plasma mass

spectrometry (ICP-MS) This method was

validated using an inter-analytical method

comparison with HPLC-ICP-MS A Paired t-test

revealed that there was no significant difference

(probability Plt005) between the two methods

VV was found to be predominate species in both

sample collection areas (LP 69 ndash 100 BA 33

ndash 89 ic e1sfoseg irsv t s vo )s ic ps8fo ndash

47480 μg Lminus1 in LP and 885 ndash 5040 μg Lminus1 in

BA VIV was found at higher levels (290minus3010

μg Lminus1) in Buenos Aires compared to General

San Martin groundwater (44 ndash 1610 μg Lminus1)

The results enhance the potential knowledge of

the speciation of vanadium in terms of water

quality and human healthrdquo

is challenging and demanding in case of sudden

arrival of primary user on its licensed channel and

spectrum mobility The results are evaluated and

compared with another routing protocol for

CRAHN on the basis of some QoS parameters for

the proposed algorithm The results are evaluated

and compared with the existing AODV routing

protocol on the basis of some QoS parameters for

paper we have given an algorithmic approach to

the problem of routing with minimum energy

consumption by the ad hoc network We have

proposed an energy optimal path algorithm used

for routing in static ad hoc networks using greedy

approach of algorithm design We have given the

mathematical proof of correctness of proposed

algorithm We also performed simulation to show

the effectiveness amp correctness of our algorithm

Simulation results show that the proposed

algorithm perform well in comparison to the

GPSR algorithm in terms of energy throughput amp

other factors

feature of Islamic Banking The study identified

the phenomena related to future of Islamic

Banking Customerrsquos attitudes of Islamic Banking

and the effect of Islamic Banking on economy of

Oman Descriptive research design was adopted

and proportionate stratified random sampling was

chosen for study The strata were mutually

exclusive Questionnaires on the future of Islamic

Banking in sultanate of Oman were distributed

among customers and economist in Muscat

Sultanate of Oman Eighty questionnaires were

received from the respondents (customers) and

twenty four questionnaires were received from

the Economist Data were refined tabulated and

analyzed Result indicated that the respondents

showed a positive attitude towards dealing with

Islamic banking and it supports the national

economy The study focused on the Future of

Islamic Bank in Sultanate of Oman Study was

extended to report the effect of following

demographic factors such as gender age and

qualification of the respondents The profile of the

respondents shows that 48 are male and 32

are female among customers of Islamic Banks and

71 are male and 29 are female among

Economist It is also found that 475 of

customers and 458 of economists are between

the age group of 31ndash40 years Majority of the

respondents among customers 4125 are

holding bachelorrsquos degree and 458 of the

economist are bachelors and post graduates t-test

has been done to know the attitude of customers

towards Islamic bank in Oman and the effect on

Oman economy with the opening of Islamic Bank

and it is stated that there is a significant difference

among the customers attitude of Islamic bank and

Oman economy in the Sultanate of Oman Study

concluded that the future of Islamic bank in Oman

will achieve great success as the customers have

a positive attitude towards the dealings with

Islamic bank It is also revealed from the study

that Islamic bank will contribute to the prosperity

of the national economy and will contribute to the

stability of the financial and monetary system in

Sultanate of Oman

between financial performance measures and

corporate governance variables which we

examine by Correlation Matrix for the period

from 2001 to 2013 for value-based financial

performance measures like Economic value

added (EVA) Market value added (MVA) The

findings are partially consistent with theoretical

expectations established from research studies in

corporate governance The LLC t-test and the IPS

w-test suggest that the variables are stationarity in

nature for corporate governance and financial

performance and thus make it appropriate for

modeling and forecasting Regression results

indicate that EVA MVA has significant

relationship with explanatory corporate

governance variables The MVA values are

significant for all firms which connotes that

companies are effectively maximizing

shareholders wealth Apart from that association

between variables shows a weak relationship

between DUAL SOTB NOM FORO which

does not have any impact on the EVA of firms

and at the same time variables NOM LR and

FSIZE do not affect the market value added of the

firms Overall result reveals that corporate

governance significantly influences the company

growth status and produced value for its investors

to create shareholderrsquos value on corporate

success

carry out the research exploratory and causal

research design was used Since some surveys and

newspaper articles are emphasizing the increasing

rate of expatriate married singles in Gulf region

the respondents for this research were confined to

expatriate lsquomarried singlesrsquo only The purposive

snowball sampling technique has been used to

collect primary data from the target respondents

The data were collected from 110 (N=110)

expatriate married singles working from various

sectors in Oman The analysis of the data was

subjected to Confirmatory factor analysis using

Principal Component analysis with Varimax

Rotation via AMOS 20 This study is evident that

out of 25 factors 18 factors are the most important

factors which are influencing the homesickness

among married singles The new factors have

been taken for Confirmatory factor analysis The

result proved that all the measured variables are

influenced with the latent variable of successful

operation for measuring the influence of

homesickness

couples are giving more priority to job rather than

family their kids will feel that the baby care

center is their first house and their parents house

is their guest house It will show impact on family

relations the relation and affection in between the

family members will be spoiled So the couple has

to realize this and should know the boundary

limits in between the family responsibility and

employment responsibilities It is always better

at-least any one parent should be able to sacrifice

their career if the situation demands It is well

known that ultimately we are working for our

family members if you are missing your family

members a lot there is no meaning for your

earnings The earnings should be helpful to gain

better family relation but not to spoil the family

relation

monitoring of mechanical

equipment The vibration

signature of member

component are indicators

of the health of the

component under study

These vibration signatures (signals) carry

immense information in them which is being

diagnosed using machine learning methods like

support vector machines (SVM) neural networks

and fuzzy logic

The statistical data from these vibration signals

are extracted and the predominant features which

characterize the faults are identified using J48

algorithm and further this data is processed using

machine learning method Unlike Fourier

transform Wavelet transform is capable of

dealing with all transients in vibration signals and

the researcher has made use of wavelet features

also in condition monitoring of gear box under

study Both continuous wavelets and discrete

wavelets features are used Hilbert transform also

has been used in the study and its efficiency is

evaluated He has focused his studies on a bevel

gear box and analyzed various machine learning

methods and found the most suitable method

which learns and monitors the condition of the

gear box under study He has around 13

publications in his name

The extraction of histogram features from the

vibration signal of the different conditions of the

gear box under investigation and the application

of machine learning method support vector

machine in machine condition monitoring and

diagnostics He used classification methods for
