    13 June 2014, Michio Sunamoto, Assistant Section Chief, Pathology Laborator y, Department of Epidemiology, Hiroshima, and Akiko Nagayoshi, Assistant Section Chief, Tumor and Tissue Registry Office, Department of Epidemiology, Nagasaki, received the 2014 Distinguished Clerical Service Award, which is presented to those who have achieved a certain level of technical skill in regional cancer registry operations, at the 23rd meeting of the Japanese Association of Cancer Registries, held in the city of Tsu, Mie prefecture.

    13 October 2014, RERF was presented with an honorary award by the Latvian Republican Union Chernobyl for its contributions over many years, including the provision of training for medical workers and researchers from Latvia as well as its cooperation in health management of the military veterans who worked at the Chernobyl nuclear accident site. On behalf of RERF, Tomonori Hayashi, PhD, Assistant Chief, RERF Department of Radiobiology/Molecular Epidemiology, attended the award ceremony held in Riga, Latvia.

    22 October 2014, Toshiteru Okubo, PhD, RERF Chair-man, received the 2014 Distinguished Service Award of the Japan Industrial Safety and Health Association (JISHA) at the general conference of the 73rd National Industrial Safety and Health Convention, held in Hiroshima. For many years, he has worked on research in the field of occupational hygiene and industrial medicine, contributing to the devel-opment of occupational health indices and the establish-ment of basic theories on industrial health activities.
