Wooden Lacquer Wares –Perhaps the mostdistinctive of the Maldivianhandicrafts. Liye Laajehunas it is called in Dhivehiinvolves the process ofshaping and hollowing outpieces of wood to formbeautifully crafted boxes.These elegant pieces arelacquered in strands ofred, black and yellow resinand delicately carvedwith flowing flowerypatterns.
