    Level limit detection at a glance

    Measurement principle

    VibrationThe robust Soliphant level limit switchreaches its resonance frequency by means ofa piezo-electric drive. As the probe is coveredby solids, the amplitude changes and theelectronics analyse this change. This principleis characterized by a wide range of applicationsand by a measurement, free of maintenance andcalibration.

    Capacitance

    Capacitance level limit switches are based onthe capacitor principle. As the solids cover anduncover the probe, the capacitance changesand the electronics switch. The compactMinicap limit switch has an integrated build-upcompensation. The capacitance product rangefor bulk solids, up to a grain size of 50 mm/2"is completed by the robust Solicap M probe, incompact or rope design and by high temperatureprobes up to 400 C/752 F.

    PaddleA synchronous motor drives a shaft with a paddlevia a transmission. As the paddle is slowed down

    or stopped by the solids, the limit is detected.Impacts on the paddle against the direction ofrotation are absorbed by a slip clutch.

    UltrasonicsProsonic T is a compact ultrasonic instrument fornon-contact level limit detection. The Prosonic Tis particularly suited to the measurement ofsmall distances. Because of its freely adjustable

    switching ranges, starting at 0.25 m/0.8 ft.

    Microwave barrierThe microwave signal is sent from anFQR emitter via an integrated horn antenna.

    An FDR receiver installed on the oppositeside of the pipe detects the signal and issuesa switching signal to the FTR unit as themicrowave beam is interrupted by solids.

    Non-contact level limit detection, free of wearand tear is possible in silos, hoppers or cyclonesthrough windows of e.g. glass or plastic material

    which can be penetrated by the microwaves.

    The radiometric measuring principle is basedon the attenuation of gamma rays as theypass through matter. The Gammapilot Mcompact transmitter contains a scintillator,a photomultiplier and integration electronics.Emitted gamma rays generate light ashesin the scintillator. They are fed to thephotomultiplier where they are transformedinto electric pulses and amplied. The pulserate (number of pulses per second) is anindication of the intensity of the radiation.Depending on the calibration the pulserate is converted to a level, limit detection,density or concentration signal by theevaluating electronics. Gammapilot Mis available with an NaI crystal or plasticscintillators in different lengths tin order tofacilitate installation.
