KM CDR (Kansai Mitsubishi Carbon Dioxide Removal) ProcessTM
Developed in the early 1990s with Kansai Electric
Similar to other amine-based technologies
Proprietary features including KS-1™ solvent
First plant in 1999
KM CDR Process is a registered trademark of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., in Japan, the United States of America, European Union (CTM), Norway, Australia, and China.
Commercial Experience (1) World leading large scale post combustion CO2 capture technology licensor, with 13 commercial plants in operation
from a variety of natural gas, heavy oil (*) and coal flue gas sources.(*) Currently heavy oil is not used as main fuel at any plant below (converted to natural gas).
World’s largest CO2 Capture Plant is in commercial operation in Texas.

CCS Joint Demonstration at Alabama Power’s Plant Barry Integrated CO2 capture, transportation and storage at a fossil-fueled power plant
• CO2 capture equivalent to 25-megawatts
• 12-mile pipeline linking captured CO2 with injection site in Citronelle Dome
• 211,000 metric tons CO2 captured with115,000 metric tons injected into ~9,400-foot deep saline formation
• Site characterization, UIC permitting, injection and monitoring of CO2 for geologic storage, and closure
9
Directional drilled 18 sections of the pipeline under roads,
utilities, railroad tracks, tortoise colonies, and
wetlands (some up to 3,000 ft long and 60 ft deep).
