An Act Regulating the Practice of Librarianship and Prescribing the Qualifications of Librarians
Section 2. Definition of Terms(a)Librarian- a bonafide holder of a CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION issued by the Board of Librarians in accordance with this act.
(b) Scope of the practice of Librarianship-Skilled in the knowledge , art and science of the organizaton, dissemination, preservation and conservation of recorded information. rendering, furnishing, and contracting of professional services.
- Signing or authenticating for clients of documents or reports when called for.
Section 4. Qualifications of Board Members
Active for 10 yrs
-Faculty of an institution- Incumbent board member
Section 5. Functions and Duties of the Board(a)Administer and promulgate rules
(b) administer oaths(c)Adopt an official seal(d) issue, suspend or revoke certificates
(e)Look into conditions affecting the practice
(f)Establish policies and standards
(g) Ensure compliance (h) Investigate violations of the Act(i)Set ethical and professional
standards for the practice of librarianship in the Philippines
(j) To discharge such other powers and duties of the board

Section 14. Scope of ExaminationCategory A. General EducationCategory B. Professional Test(1)selection and acquisition of library materials
(2) cataloguing and classification; (3) indexing and abstracting; (4) reference, bibliography and information services;
(5) organization and management of libraries and information centers;(6) information technology; and (7) such other subjects which the Board may deem necessary.
Section 15. Report of the Results of Examination-- within 90 Days after the examinationSection 16. Repeaters-- After 3 succesive failures, refresher courses are required before the 4th retakeSection 17. Rules and Regulations-- The Board with the approval of PRC
