REPORT ON IMPROVE LINKAGES WITH PRIVATE SECTOR

Summary:To develop Improve linkages with private sector primarily identified the attractions of Teknuf area and developed an Itinerary with three options (I) Day trip to Teknuf (II) Two days one night trip to Teknuf (III) Three days Two Night tour to Teknuf. After official development of Itinerary started to communicate with major hotels, resorts, guest houses, tour operators, transporter with IPAC communication materials like responsiable tourism posters, Kudum Cave trail brochures, Teknaf Game reserve brochures, Toinga Hill trail brochures IPAC one pager etc.

Providing itinerary, Ecotourism related materials and IPAC brochures to the stakeholders educated the peoples about nature tourism, Teknuf as attractive tourist destination. Also these materials helps tourist to get a vast idea to visit Teknaf with the touch of Eco-tourism. In this way Font desk managers and executives can easily recommend to a tourist for Teknaf visit for a shot or long period. Moreover sometimes tourist can directly contact with IPAC Eco guides for visiting Teknaf wildlife sanctuary.List of Private sector conducted:

Findings:Some hotels and guest house authority want to know about the costing of itinerary for Teknaf trip. Some want to know what about their benefit if they send guest to Teknaf from Cox’s bazaar.

I had given an idea of costing about day trip at Teknaf from Cox’s bazaar and also said it should be on process, after creating of our Eco cottage and while creating its costing for accommodation with the entrepreneur, at that time we should completed all costing. We don’t want any loss of their business that who send guest from their hotel at Cox’s bazaar to Teknaf. We should create an option of their benefit in this matter.

Also my meetings with the hotel and resort entrepreneurs of Cox’s bazaar & Teknaf are a continuous process. They give me a follow up meetings date.

At that time we should give some binding responsible tourism poster for some of my identified hotels. Also we should provide them some ‘X’ file with our brochures, which they should keep at their front desk from where tourists should get the information about us. I expect that our authority should kindly think about that. And some of the hotels are agree on it.

Recommendations:About the’ Nature park’. I think it’s not totally prepared for the tourists. ‘The Nature interpretation Centre” is not always open for the tourists. From many days the electricity system has damaged in that place. The trails with the place for rest of tourist are not in a favorable condition. I think we should be repairing them before the tourist season start, connect electricity system again and the Nature interpretation centre should be always be open for the tourists. And also we should appoint a perfect person as a caretaker of the centre because now the person who is appoints here is not perfect I think. Also take attempt to increase the sell of Eco shop there. Lastly we should give a pure concentration about the matter of safety & security here. In this regards we should take as much attempts as we can with the help of CMC here. Some hotel owners said that we should create a boundary of the Nature Park.

We already have some eco-guide here; I had already sent a list of new and potential eco-guide. I said we should train up them as early as possible. Some of the guide list is given at the itinerary which I had distributed to many hotels & resorts of Cox’s bazaar and also Teknaf, because any time tourist should call them. They should be always ready to serve and also they should have a vast idea about the tourist spots like ‘kudum cave’, Toinga hill and others spots of Teknaf and the subject Eco-tourism.

We should repair our existing trails named ‘Kudum cave’, Toinga hill trail and the short trail near samlapur bazaar. Because the tourists are already being informed that if they get the brochure& itinerary which I had distributed. We should repair the short rest- room in the trail where the tourist can take a little rest in time of hiking the trail.

The matter is that our place are ready for tourists, our Eco-guides are ready to serve them and a favorable condition arise at Teknaf with safety & security, then tourists are most welcomed at Teknaf with the touch of Eco tourism.
