The 4th the French Volunteer Day held on Friday 7 and 8 October 2016 was a success with the credit goes largely to all the volunteers, organizations, institutions and all those who accompanied us in the organization of the exhibition and the two days.

The team France Volontaires especially thanks its partners during the 4th edition of the French Volunteer Day in the Philippines:• The Embassy of France to the Philippines who provided financial support and help during the two day event and

before for the photo exhibit.• The Manila for graciously provided his gallery and his staff for the installation of the

exhibition and during the inauguration cocktail.• The French School of Manila and its director Jean-Marc Aubry for his help in planning and for the provision of its

premises, technical equipment and staff during the days of the French volunteering. The school appealed to the students of the local edition of "LePetitJournal.com" to relay our communication and cover the event.

• The company Boysen, n°1 in painting materials in the Philippines, which has contributed financially to the costs of prints and frames for the photo exhibition.

Finally a big thank to all the visitors who, sometimes, have came from afar to participate at the French Volunteer Day in the Philippines.

FRENCH VOLUNTEERING DAY

The previous French Volunteering Day in the Philippines :

The 2016 Celebration is the 4th in this country.

• 1st October 5, 2013:

Photo exhibit «"Different perspectives on the French

volunteerism in the Philippines " for 15 days.

• 2nd October 2 & 3, 2014 :

1 day : conference on the theme of migrations of people and

workshop on the challenges of volunteering.

2nd day : training on financial education and workshop.

• 3rd October 9, 2015 :

Conferences on climate challenge and natural disasters.

Initiated in 2011 by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

the French Volunteering Day (JVF) is celebrated worldwide

every year during the month of October.

The French Volunteering Day give us the opportunity to

recognize our volunteers on their significant and meaningful

contribution in their respective field of assignment.

It is also a unique opportunity for our volunteers in the

country to meet, learn, share and promote their mission.

Furthermore, this is also the best time to acknowledge the

different organizations for their support and

accommodating our volunteers and for allowing them to be

part of their organizations.

OBJECTIVES

Explain the missions of France Volontaires

Promote French volunteering abroad

Explain the different forms of commitment and solidarity contracts

Provide visibility and promote the activities of volunteers in the country

Establish a network of volunteers and host organization

Promote encounters between different actors of voluntering: organizations, institutions, donors and volunteers

Educate students from the French school as well as the Filipino youth on the challenges of international solidarity

Allow exchanges between students and young beneficiaries of local NGOs

Give visibility of the partners NGO to the students' families and potential donors

Meet beneficiaries, volunteers, staff and their organizations

THEME

Guided by the theme Volontariats Jeunesse et cohesion

sociale France Volontaires Philippines in collaboration with the

Embassy of France in the Philippines organized a two day event

to celebrate this day on October 7-8 2016. This

celebration aims to champion the spirit of volunteerism to the

youth.

In the Philippines, volunteerism is embedded in its culture with

the tradition of sharing and helping each other which shows

strong community spirit and cohesiveness. Volunteerism is

becoming a trend also for the Filipino youth today which in a

way proves that the Bayanihan spirit is still alive.

In other country, particularly in France, various volunteering

scheme is offered to the young people to promote

international solidarity which is being supported by the French

government. It is interesting to note that the youth plays a vital

role in bringing positive change in the society and important

to recognize their contribution as well.

As a volunteer organization, France Volontaires wishes to gather

together our international and local volunteers, different youth

organization, students and non-government organization and

government representative to discuss and share their ideas

about the culture of volunteerism all over the world.

VENUE

Participants have a break on the playground-Rossel Estabaya -

This year the event took place in the French School of Manila in the Eurocampus premises.

First step towards a partnership with the school, this alsosymbolizes the importance of youth in the future of international solidarity.

By organizing the French Volunteer Day at the LFM, France Voluntaires in the Philippines try to open the world of solidarity to the students, youth and French families.

Friday afternoon is part of the regular schedule for student but they were given the chance to participate in the forum, this also allowed an exchange with the parents as well as with teachers.

We opted to choose this venue, although far from Manila, the LFM has all the necessary infrastructure for an event such it as: conference room, covered exhibit space , sports field, parking.

The director of the French School of Manila has also involve its personnel at the disposal of France Volontaires during the event: guards, supervisors, technical staff, nurses, cleaning staff.

BEFORE THE FRENCH VOLUNTEERING DAYPHOTO EXHIBIT& PHOTO CONTEST

Photo Exhibit

During the month of July and August 2016, photographer, Patrick Rivera has made portraits of volunteers assigned in different part to the Philippines.

Through these faces, the exhibition reflects the diversity of the volunteers who chose to spend a few weeks or several years,to support a cause.

For some it was the first international experience, others are veterans of solidarity. The motivations are different, but above all, they are men and women engaged and volunteers.

From October 3 to 21 2016 France Volontaires Philippines in collaboration with Mr. Patrick Rivera, organized a photography exhibit with the theme of volunteerism, entitled "Faces of Solidarity" at the Alliance Française of Manila.

At the opening of the exhibit, our partners and volunteers were invited to a cocktail on Monday October 3 from 5:30pm to 9pm.

The exhibit also includes selected photographs of the photo contest participated by the volunteers.

Photo Contest

From August to September, a photo contest was organized before thephoto exhibitit.

The contest was open to all volunteers working in the Philippines. Ninevolunteers participated by submitting their photographs in threecategories: City, People and Nature.The four photos selected by a jury of four professional photographers wereexhibited alongside Patrick Rivera's Exhibit at the Alliance Française ofManila.The winners and other participants received awards and token ofappreciation
