• Bridge Name: Rumson Road (County Route 520) over Shrewsbury River (Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge)
• Serves as one of two emergency evacuation routes for community of Sea Bright in times of flooding and coastal storms
• Year Built: 1950• Bridge is in overall serious condition and is structurally
deficient • Federal funding being utilized for design and construction of
new bridge• Concept Development Phase completed June 2013

Local Concept Development Preliminary Preferred Alternative (PPA)
• Construct new movable bridge at the same profile on a new alignment to the south of the existing bridge
• Provide cul-de-sac to improve operations and safety at the intersection of Ward Avenue and Rumson Road
• Provide pedestrian and bicycle compatibility improvements along Ocean Avenue (Route 36) and at the intersection of Ward Avenue and Rumson Road
• New bridge width = 67’-6”; two 12’ EB lanes, one 12’ WB lane, 6’ sidewalk & 1’-9” parapet on both sides, and 8’ outside shoulder in each direction
• MPT utilizes entire existing bridge for most of construction duration
