Prepare the SketchUp model:
- Open Product_Demo.skp in SketchUp
- Usually, when constructing a new model you would apply materials to your model, at this
point. This model has SketchUp materials already applied. Renditioner Pro shares materials
based on material name. To have a unique material in Renditioner Pro you should create a
unique material in SketchUp.
Launch Renditioner Pro:
- From the Plugins -> Renditioner menu select Launch or press the Launch icon in the SketchUp interface.
Select Model Style:
- Renditioner Pro considers 2 styles of model: Product or Architectural. Select Product

PHASE 1 – START the IMAGE
Initially we will apply some materials and basic lighting to the model, and will then refine the colours, lighting and finishes to produce the final image.
1. Apply Initial Materials - Select the Materials tab.
- Select Product Paint Finishes, in the right hand palette.
The Materials Palette appears in the lower window.
- Select AutoPaint Lightness 3 and drag it onto the following objects: o Van body (blue part and beige part) o Number Plate
- Select Transparent Finishes in the right hand palette. Select and drag Window Clear Reflect
3 onto the Windows
- Select Metal Finishes in the right hand palette and drag Chrome onto the following objects: o Wheel Trims o Window Frames
- Select Basic Materials in the right hand palette and drag Rubber onto the tyres
NOTE: If you drag an “xx Rough Plastic” style of texture / material onto a component, you cannot
subsequently change the colour of the component, unless you right-mouse click on the component
and select ‘Edit Material’.

2. Set up the lighting: - Select the Lighting tab
- Select Studio Lighting, in the right hand palette
- Drag and drop Studio – Neutral 1 onto the scene
3. Set up the background: - Select the Backgrounds tab
- Select Abstract Backgrounds, in the right hand palette
- Drag and drop Grey onto the scene (the background will update)
4. Set up the render settings: - Select the SnapShots tab
- Select the following, in the right hand palette
o Render Quality = Medium
o Lighting Quality = Low
o Material Quality = Low
o Model Size = Large Object

5. Render - Position the view using the Camera controls
- Render using the render icon in the main toolbar. The render can be stopped, if required, by pressing the Interrupt
PHASE 2 – Refine the Image
1. Edit the Material Colours - Right-click the blue part of the van body .
o Select “Edit Material…”
MATERIAL COLOUR
- The Edit Material dialogue will appear
o Select Edit, to change the colour of the
material
o Change the R/G/B values to:
0 / 163 / 218
o Click ‘OK’

NOTE : If you select (sub-image) you can drag a box on the model, and only render this
selected area. This allows for dynamic editing of materials, with only a portion of the model being
rendered each time, as the sub image box remains. To turn off sub-imaging reclick the icon.
This completes the custom material. The materials should now be set up as follows:
Colour: Original Finish: Window Clear Reflect 3 Bump: Original
Colour: 0 / 163 / 218 Finish: AutoPaint Lightness 3 Bump: Original
Colour: Original Finish: Chrome Plate Bump: Original
Colour: Original Finish: AutoPaint Lightness 3 Bump: Original

2. Edit the Background
- Select ‘Backgrounds’ tab and choose ‘2D Backgrounds –
Large Object’ from the palette on the right
Drag and drop ‘Road 1’
3. Edit the Lighting - Select ‘Lighting tab’ Select ‘Exterior Lighting’
- Drag and Drop ‘Outdoor – Woodland’
- Click the icon to open the light editor.
- Set “Sky Quality” to “Medium”
If you want to turn shadows off uncheck the ‘Lights
Shadow’ and ‘Sky Shadow’ tick boxes.

- Set the sun position by moving the sun sliders to the following positions
4. Final Render Once you are happy with the positioning and the lighting of the model, change the render settings in
the ShotShots tab to: Medium, Medium, Medium and hit the Render icon.
The model used in this demonstration was downloaded from Google 3D Warehouse. The model
remains the property of Google.
