Guided Walks New Zealand Remarkable Mountain’s Heli - Hike You're on top of the world in minutes from Queenstown without the strenuous climb. In this area surrounded by towering jagged mountain peaks and hidden alpine plant life, you can hike and explore at leisure. Endless Mountain tops, hidden valleys & lakes stretch into infinity, Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu far below. Silence and remoteness surround you in this very special environment. A delicious picnic lunch, a view you have to see to believe, make this day an unforgettable experience. Be picked up from your accommodation and travel to Queenstown Airport in our luxury vehicle to connect with the helicopter provider then fly into the Remarkable Mountains (approx 10min flying time). We land at approx 6000ft in a pristine alpine environment with magnificent views in all directions. From this point we can choose to hike in the rocky ridge and valley areas of alpine tussocks, rock gardens and fell fields, or to traverse the razorback skyline ridges with the inherent feeling of being ‘on top of the world’ with views in all directions. On a clear day you can even see Mt Cook, our highest mountain. Many of the alpine plants are unique to this area and photographic opportunities abound. The distance walked and the time taken will be entirely up to your ability and desires. The ridge and valley areas allow for greater distance, and/or more strenuous hiking, while the razorback skyline ridges require more precise and demanding discipline, your guide will not expose you to any risks that he/she considers unsafe or beyond your capabilities. At a time pre-determined by yourselves and your guide, the helicopter will return to pick you up again and land you back at the airport then your guide will deliver you to your accommodation. Our aim is to challenge you to the degree that makes for an experience that is enjoyable, unforgettable, and a highlight of your visit to New Zealand, however, these areas are subject to weather changes so the operator reserves the right change or cancel according to conditions on the day.
