Project Scope

• Replace all existing 100-Watt high pressure sodium (HPS) cobra head roadway lights with LED fixtures

• About 14,000 lights in Orlando, Orange County, St. Cloud and Osceola County

• Represents 52 percent of roadway fixtures• 60-month implementation schedule• One-for-one exchange between

HPS and LED• Total capital cost of $4.9 million

Energy & Cost Savings

• Greater than 50 percent reduction in consumption• ~3.5 GWh of energy reduction per year at full

implementation in 2018• Contributes towards conservation goal• City of Orlando will realize nearly $300,000 in

annual savings at full implementation

Next Steps

• Continue to monitor the development of LED technology

• Evaluate the replacement of 250W and 400W cobra head roadway fixtures– 13,000 fixtures

• Pilot project to test retrofit kits for decorative fixtures

• Submit capital projects to the Commission when one-for-one replacement is deemed economic and effective
