• A new software generation licence is necessary to run Release 5.0 • The important hints from R4.0 SP2 Release Notes as well as from Release 4.1 Release
Notes are still valid but not listed here again. • The upgrade from all former Mitel Office 400 GA versions is supported.
-> see general hints about scheduled upgrade in chapter 8.1.2 -> for upgrade of an AIN with virtual appliance refer to chapter 8.2.1.
• Customers upgrading from R3.0 or lower must consider especially the important hints in R3.1 Release Notes (e.g. changed AIN signalling ports, new Secure VoIP Licence format, reprogram Bandwidth areas ...) and R3.2 (upgrade AIN first to R3.1 with AMS and continue upgrade with WebAdmin …).
• There are cases where it is necessary to factory reset the Mitel SIP 6735/37 when the upgrade fails.
8.1.2 SCHEDULED UPGRADE FROM OLDER RELEASES (LOAD LIC FILE IN ADVANCE)
• With Release 5.0 the licences are stored in a licence file (file name structure: EID-of-the-system_name-of-the-system_X_yyyymmdd.lic). From the SLS you will get the known licence sheet as PDF and the new licence file.
• To perform a scheduled upgrade from older systems to Release 5.0, one needs to put the licence file into a new created directory on the file system.
• Before the upgrade create a subfolder “lic” in the folder “…/data/” with WebAdmin -> Maintenance -> File management -> File browser
• Refresh the file browser to see the new subfolder. • Import the new licence file into the folder ../data/lic. • Proceed with the SW upgrade as usual. • The system will find and read the new R5.0 licences when starting up with Release
5.0.
8.1.3 USER BASED LICENCING FOR VIRTUAL APPLIANCE AND MITEL 470
• The new user based licencing concept requires user licences assigned for each user with an attached terminal (users with just virtual terminals or no terminals do not need user licences).
• The assignment of user or basic user licences is done on demand after loading a new licence file or automatically after each restart of the system.
• When upgrading systems on SLS to R5.0, the necessary amount of user licences is added automatically based on former expansion licence or AIN master licence and on the amount of covered SWA users.
• With Release 5.0 the AIN licences (Mitel Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) and Mitel AIN Satellite) are no more necessary for Mitel 470 (same concept as with the Virtual Appliance).
• A Mitel 470 is now always a Master, but some AIN relevant features are hidden till the 1st Satellite is registered (e.g. PSTN overflow).
• A Satellite needs no licence to run in Online mode, exception is if VoIP encryption is used “Secure VoIP” licence has to be on each node of a AIN.
• A Satellite runs for 36h in licence free Offline mode if it once was registered to a master system.
8.2 MIVOICE OFFICE 400 AS VIRTUAL APPLIANCE
8.2.1 NEW OVA/VHD PACKAGES WITH RELEASE 5.0 – HOTFIX2
• All new systems must be installed with the OVA/VHD 1.4.0 / 8834b1 packages • Upgrading existing systems from Releases deployed with OVA/VHD package 1.4.0
can be upgraded using the mlx....zip package provided • Upgrading existing systems which have been deployed with older OVA/VHD package than
version 1.4.0 to this version must be reinstalled with the Release 5.0 OVA/VHD package 1.4.0 / 8834b1
• For an AIN do install the virtual appliance master first with the R5.0 software and load the backup files, then upgrade each satellite manually (in offline mode). As soon the satellites are starting up with the R5.0 release, they will connect to the Master.
• Important: After restoring a backup of the Virtual Appliance you need to
• verify NTP settings in WebAdmin and reconfigure if necessary • verify Time Zone setting in WebAdmin and reconfigure if necessary • verify Licence • upload the audio guides
8.2.2 VMWARE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimal requirements for the VMware installation
• ESXi VMware vSphere 5.5 or 6.0 o VMware vSphere 6.5 is under test
• 1 vCPU reserved for the “Virtual Appliance“ minimum 2.0 GHz (> 3 GHz to reach max. limits)
• 2 GB Memory minimum • 40 GB HDD space • Please refer to the VMware compatibility list to find supported server systems.
• The FTP access is disabled after a First start on Mitel 415/430/470. • You need to enable it via WebAdmin -> Maintenance -> General -> Security: Allow FTP
Service. It is possible to enable the FTP access in the 1818 Monitor (System Settings).
8.3.2 FRONT DESK ON MITEL SIP 6873
Limits for room keys: • maximum 48 room keys (without BLF keys) directly on the 6873 phone • maximum 24 room/BLF keys pairs directly on the 6873 phone • maximum 200 room keys per 6873 phone (using M685 keyboards) • Any Mitel SIP phone has a max limit of 50 BLF keys per terminals
8.3.3 OPERATOR/ATTENDANT ON MITEL SIP 6873 AND 6869
There are the following known restrictions and hints for the operator functionality • The default melody played for operator calls is the “Melody203.wav“ in the
/home/mivo400/tftp/Melodies directory (design intent). o To set a different melody one can upload a custom file with the name “operator.wav” into
this directory (do not modify the “Melody203.wav”). The format must be g.711 a-Law 8kHz, 8Bit, data rate 64kBit/s, mono, max. size 200kB.
• Adjusting the ringing volume for operator console calls can be done during an active operator call using the volume control key
Limits: • Maximum 4 operator phones on a Mitel 470 or VA; 1 on Mitel 415/430 • Maximum 6 operator keys if used on a 6873 in combination with front desk functionality • Maximum 10 operator keys if used as standalone operator phone
• The “own presence” information, as seen top right on user terminals, is not displayed on an
Ring Alone has no effect on Mitel 6800 phones when using custom ring tones -> issue on MSIP
8.3.5 EXCEL IMPORT OF USERS WITH MICOLLAB UCC LICENCES
When exporting users, the UCC user licences are included in the excel. • At import of users with UCC licences, these licences are ignored. These users will get
“licence: none” and “Role: none”. One needs to add the UCC licences of the users manually.
• This is a system behaviour.
8.3.6 TDM-DECT
• To put more than 64 System Bases in one location area, the "Maximum number of location areas" has to be set to 1.
8.3.7 SIP-DECT
• MiVoice Office 400 R 5.0 contains the latest SIP-DECT GA Release 7.0 SP2 • SIP-DECT 6.2 is not supported.
8.3.8 SELF SERVICE PORTAL SSP: CHANGED DEFAULT ACCESS
With R5.0 the default settings to access SSP have been changed due security reasons. • New created users have set “Use PIN instead of password” to use a password. • If one switch back to PIN then the default PIN 0000 is blocked for access. It must be
changed to any other value. • The permission sets got a new attribute “Use Self Service Portal also from remote location”,
this is disabled per default. After upgrade from an older Release to R5.0 the following has to be considered:
• Access to SSP with default PIN 0000 is blocked. • External access to SSP is blocked due the attribute “Use Self Service Portal also from
remote location” in the permission sets are disabled.
8.3.9 SELF-SIGNED CERTIFICATES WITH SHA512 SIGNATURE ALGORITHM
• If the "Compatibility mode for self-signed certificate" in WebAdmin is enabled (default setting). The self-signed certificate generated by the MiVO400 controller continues using the "Signature algorithm" SHA1 in the certificate.
o With this it is guaranteed that clients such as the Mitel IP terminals 5300IP are able to establish a secure signalling connection if this is configured on the specific terminal. The drawback is that the "Signature algorithm" SHA1 is rated as insecure.
o SW updates of Mitel 5300IP phones can only be done if the compatibility mode is enabled.
• When the setting "Compatibility mode for self-signed certificate" disabled, the self-signed certificate generated on the controller is using the "Signature Algorithm" SHA512 which is classified as secure.
o Note: The Mitel IP terminal series 5300IP must be upgraded beforehand to the newest SW version so that they are operational again. All other client will/should work without changes but may require a restart.
8.3.10 CHANGING ROOM NUMBER IN CS, ROOM KEYS AND BLF FOR ROOM IS NOT UPDATED ON FRONTDESK
• When a room number is changed in the CS the room key on the Front desk terminal 6873 is only updated, if also the Room name is also changed
• When a call number of a room is changed in the CS the BLF key on the Front desk terminal 6873 is only updated, if also the Room name is also changed
• In both cases Room key and BLF key are updated after a restart of the terminal. Solved with 8834b1 (HOTFIX2)
8.3.11 WEBADMIN: NOT YET USED SETTINGS IN RELEASE 5.0
The following settings are visible in WebAdmin but not active yet • Mitel Border Gateway settings
• Routing -> List view -> Trunk groups • "Use international number format only"
• IP network -> IP addressing o "Proxy server parameters"
8.3.12 MITEL SIP 6900/6800 INTEGRATION WITH HOTFIX1
General • The SIP R5.0 software will be automatically deployed on the phones after the call manager
has been upgraded to Release 5.0 - HOTFIX1. • New SIP phones software (R5.0) is provided for all phones of the Mitel 6800 and 6900

9 HINTS AND RESTRICTIONS FOR THE NORTH AMERICAN DEPLOYMENT
• Setup a factory new Mitel 470 system o Out of the box the Mitel 470 contains an outdated software which has to be
upgraded to Release 5.0 first. The North American sales channel has to be set after the upgrade.
o The following steps are to do When the factory new system asks to set the sales channel, choose
“other” then upgrade to Release 5.0 by loading the correct .zip file. After Release 5.0 has started up, choose the sales channel “US-
Freemarket” or “CA-Freemarket” . You do not need to load the audio guides. These will be loaded automatically after the restart (if the network settings are correct).
The system will do a first start and set all sales channel depending parameters
• ISDN PRI-T1
o Mitel 470 supports the ISDN PRI-T1 with 23 B + 1 D-Channel. CAS or other configurations are not supported
• Message Waiting on FXS: o Mitel 470 supports the LowVoltage MWI method. HiVoltage method is not
supported.
• Generate and upload audio files (format g.711 a-Law 8kHz, 8Bit, mono) o Due the System works internally fully with codec g.711 a-Law, it is mandatory to
load any wav file in the correct format else it will sound distorted. The format must be g.711 a-Law, 8kHz, sample size 8Bit, data rate
64kBit/s, mono. • Use e.g. Audacity with CCITT A-Law 8kHz 8Bit Mono.
