The Banner Financial Aid 8.31/9.3.5 release describes recent enhancements and references to adetailed listing of resolved Change Request defects/enhancements.

Note: With the exception of some version specific terminology (form vs. page, tab vs. section, andso on), this Release Guide describes both Banner Financial Aid 8.x and 9.x implementations.

This release describes changes needed to support regulatory changes and enhancements,including the following:

Ellucian recommends that you use Ellucian Solution Manager to perform Banner product upgrades,rather than using a manual installation process.

With Ellucian Solution Manager, you can:

• Identify dependency information within and between products.• View the latest version numbers for the Banner products you have installed, along with all other

version numbers installed in your environment.• Use the Get New Releases feature to identify available upgrades and download them

immediately.• Identify and install product pre-requisites, along with any upgrades you have selected.

Solution Manager currently supports most Banner 8 and Banner 9 products. For more informationon the Banner product versions currently supported by Solution Manager, see the Banner UpgradesSupport Status guide. For detailed instructions on how to install and configure Solution Manager,see the latest Solution Manager User Guide.

Printing controls associated with the RERIS19 process are described.

Printing correction flags

Correction Flags on the ISIR indicate changes to FAFSA data processed by the CPS. TheFAFSA field numbers and correction numbers have not changed for 2018/2019. Therefore, theCorrection flag positions have not changed within the Banner column in which they are stored(RCRESAR_CORR_FLAGS). For 2018/2019, the correction flag positions are 2104 – 2298, eachposition will have one of the following values:

• 0 - No correction made• 1 - Field corrected on this transaction• 2 - Field corrected on previous transaction

The position represents the applicable correction that is being made (for example, position 13 of thecorrection flags is student email address; the actual position number on the ISIR for this correctionis 2116).

Refer to the Field Name and Position Cross References table in 2018-2019 EDE TechnicalReference, Section 4. The position of the field within the RCRESAR_CORR_FLAGS correspondsto the Central Processing System (CPS) correction number found in RORDATA_SAR_NO for thecolumn.

If a field was corrected on the current transaction, the correction flag will contain a value of 1. On theISIR, the “pound” sign (#) will be printed to the right of the field variable that was corrected.

If a field was corrected on a previous transaction, the correction flag will contain a value of 2. On theISIR, the “at” symbol (@) will be printed to the right of the field variable that was corrected.

All other correction flag fields will have a value of 0 and no additional indicators are printed on theISIR.

Printing highlight flags

Highlight Flags on the ISIR indicate data emphasized on the SAR, based on FAFSA dataprocessed by the CPS. Because FAFSA field numbers have not changed for 2018-2019, theHighlight flag positions have not changed within the Banner column in which they are stored(RCRESAR_HIGH_FLAGS).

For 2018-2019, the correction flag positions are 2314 – 2508, each position will have one of thefollowing values:

• 0 - No highlight made• 1 - Field highlighted

The position represents the applicable highlight that is being made (for example, position 13 of thehighlight flags is student email address; the actual position number on the ISIR for this highlight is2326).

Functional

Any field containing a highlight flag will have a value of 1. An "h" will be printed to the left of the fieldtitle to show that the field was highlighted. If the field is both highlighted and assumed, both an "h"and an asterisk (*) will be printed to the left of the field title. All other highlight flag fields have a valueof 0.

Printing assumed values

On the ISIR, an asterisk (*) will be printed to the left of the field title to indicate that the CPS madean assumption and the assumed value must print in place of the reported value.

Note: Assumption values reflect suppositions made by the Central Processing System (CPS) indetermining the applicant’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC) or other information. CPS makesassumptions when the applicant does not report certain information that is necessary for the EFCcalculation or when the applicant reports inconsistent information (some unreported informationwill result in a rejected transaction rather than assumptions). CPS uses the assumed value whencalculating the EFC.

If a field is both assumed and highlighted, both an "h" and an asterisk (*) will be printed to the left ofthe field title. Positions 1472 - 1572 of the ISIR all contain CPS assumption fields.

2018-2019 FA Dataload Part 3 (RCRTP19)

The 2018-2019 FA Dataload Part 3 (RCRTP19) process has been modified to load the new datafields to the permanent tables.

Need Analysis Discrepancy report

The Need Analysis Discrepancy report has been modified to support this release.

The Student Legal Resident Before 01-JAN-2013 and Parent Legal Resident Before 01-JAN-2013 fields have been updated to 2013 dynamically. Additionally, the Born Before 01-01-19xxfield has also been updated to 1995, dynamically.

IM to FM merge processing

The RCRTP19 process is used to merge unique IM data into the existing current FM record,whenever a new IM record is loaded. The process is also used to merge existing unique IM datainto the FM record, whenever a new current FM record is loaded.

INAS - IM/EFM Calculation

This section describes functional updates for the 8.31/9.3.5 release.

Like previous aid years, only institutions who have identified themselves as INAS IM clientswill execute the IM/EFM Calculation (RNPIM19) process. This new process extracts IM/EFMinformation and runs it through the EFM/IM calculator in the cloud and the data is then returned toBanner. This appendix contains information about the objects associated with this INAS IM Onlyfunctionality.

Note: Access to this “INAS IM Only” code will be provided in the form of a separate download.

As with the 2017/2018 aid year, we will be providing both Parts 1 and 2 of the Global Options tableand enabling the IM to FM Compare process with the 8.31/9.3.5 release.

RNECP19 is called from job submission or automatically through RNPIM19. The program producesa report similar to the one produced when called from RNEIN18 for the 2017/2018 aid year.

2018-2019 IM/EFM Calculation (RNPIM19)

The new RNPIM19 process is included with this release and is used as a replacement for the2017-2018 IM/EFM Need Calculation (RNEIN18).

The new 2018-2019 IM/EFM Calculation (RNPIM19) is used for Aid Year 2018/2019 where the AidYear Start Year is 2018 (ROBINST_AIDY_START_YEAR = 2018) and the Aid Year End Year is 2019(ROBINST_AIDY_END_YEAR = 2019) for the 2018/2019 aid year.

Note: RNEIN19 will not be delivered with this release and is being replaced by the new RNPIM19Java process.

Note: RNPIM19 has been added to the GORFEOB page, excluding the process from VBS FGAC.

A new miscellaneous object is included with this release.

The finaidimlogin.jar file is a new object for the 2018/2019 aid year. This file containsthe username and password required for RNPIM19 to connect to the hosted INAS calculator.Configuration information is provided in the Banner Financial Aid Hosted Services Handbook,October 2017.
