When Acme Truck Line was founded in 1960, they had six trucks. Today, with a fleet of nearly 2,500 vehicles operating in more than 50 service markets in seven states, the firm is a leader in the transportation of equipment, materials, and supplies throughout the U.S.

One of the most important assets a trucking company needs is information. Acme’s methods of web communication to their truckers and customers had become outdated and were woefully short of the type of functionality they needed to maintain their competitive position. After a painful experience with another web development firm that cost a lot of money with little to show for it, they turned to Randstad Technologies for help in designing and implementing the technologies they needed.

The Randstad Technologies approach assures high quality solutionsRandstad Technologies applies established software development best practices to assure deliverables meet benchmarks for functionality, quality, timeliness, and budgets. Project deadlines and budgets are scrupulously maintained by rigorously following our Deliver-to-Order and Agile project methodologies:

• On-site discovery workshops gather input and requirements from key stakeholders.

• The target audience is identified and detailed.

• Personas are developed based on clients’ segmented target audiences ensuring users are delivered relevant information matching their needs, interests, or role.

• A site map and wireframe are developed serving as blueprints for design.

• The user interface design, presented through a landing page and interior page, portrays the final product’s look and feel.

• Additional site pages and functionality are then created.

At the conclusion of development and testing, and after client acceptance, the delivered solution (website, portal, etc.), goes live.

Acme leverages Randstad Technologies’ approach for three successful web development projectsAcme’s goal is to apply technology to better support both their truckers and customers. By effectively leveraging the internet to deliver time-sensitive and customized information to their truckers and customers displayed in an easy to access and use design, Acme has improved both their operations and their trucker/customer service.

Collaboration between Randstad Technologies and Acme ensured that the most advanced web-based technologies were leveraged to obtain the business objectives. Additional projects are now in progress with more to come in the future. Descriptions of completed projects including, customer logistics portal, design and build of acmetrucker.biz and the Acme Truck Line corporate website, are detailed on the following page. The positive results of each project have led to additional mobile and modern web assignments for Randstad Technologies.

Acme Truck Line, Inc. has worked with Randstad Technologies on three web development projects, with more in the queue. They have not only delivered engaging and effective solutions targeted to our employees and customers, but provided excellent communication and updates throughout the projects.

PROJECT #1 | Design and build customer logistics portalThe customer logistics portal enables customers to access real-time information on the location and status of their loads via a web-based shipment tracking system built on Microsoft’s MVC.NET framework. The introduction of this portal has eliminated the need for customers to call in for status updates and has reduced call center support costs.

The system utilizes modern web standards such as responsive design through CSS3 and HTML5. Additionally, the application also boasts a robust API for allowing users to connect on the go with native mobile applications available on the Apple iPhone and Android devices.

PROJECT #2 | Design and build acmetrucker.bizThe existing site had become outdated and updating the underlying technology and user interface was badly needed. The newly created external-facing application leverages a responsive adaptive design and allows truck drivers and customers a tailored view of all upcoming compliance and/or maintenance requirements, historical financial data, enhanced document repository containing customer requirements, safety, and benefits.

The information can now be easily viewed on a mobile device. The .NET framework provides Acme a flexible and scalable framework on which they can continue to build to meet their evolving needs.

PROJECT #3 | Design and build Acme Truck Line corporate websiteThe corporate website was based on aging Cold Fusion technologies – there was no content management system, the site was not mobile friendly, and its branding was no longer consistent with the firm’s other sites. Randstad Technologies designed and built the site based on the WordPress platform.

The new site has a consistent look, renders accurately from mobile devices, and offers access to a content management system allowing for easy graphical and content updates.
