Dessert reinforces the behavior (eating dinner)

Decrease the likelihood of a behavior

“Time out for hitting!”

The behavior (hitting) is punished by (time out)

“Because you skipped school, you have a detention.”

The behavior (skipping school) is punished (detention).

You are given a ticket for speeding.

You get a tax break for charitable contributions.
