KEYNOTES AND PLENARY SESSIONS

OPENING PLENARY SESSION & ASSOCIATION BUSINESS MEETING | Sunday 4:00 – 5:30 pm

Reinventing Construction: A Route to Higher ProductivityU.S. construction productivity is far behind other industries, and dramatic im-provement will require owners and contractors to move together to new ways of working. This session will bring construction industry leaders together to examine the root causes of poor productivity growth in the industry and explore practical ways to improve the situation. Drawing on McKinsey’s recent report, “Reinventing Construction: A route to higher productivity” that found action in seven key areas could boost productivity by up to 60 percent, the industry panel will debate the findings and recommendations put forward by McKinsey and share best practices and innovations on how to best improve the productivity and performance of capital projects. The panel will be chaired by Tim McManus, Vice President in McKinsey’s Capital Projects and Infrastructure Practice and will include representatives from a leading United States public sector agency, a leading contractor and one of the co-authors of “Reinventing Construction”

BREAKFAST PLENARY SESSION | Monday 7:00 – 9:00 am

CMAA’s National Conference & Trade Show will feature a performance by The Capitol Steps, a popular Washington, DC-based comedy troupe. The Capitol Steps have been a Washington, DC institution for over 30 years. They provide a unique blend of

musical and political comedy to audiences everywhere. Each show consists of tasteful lampooning guaranteed to leave both sides of the political spectrum laughing. Their show is constantly changing, strenuously bi-partisan, and in-cludes songs about the election madness, as well as other headlines in the news.

KEYNOTE AND CHAPTER AWARDS LUNCH| Tuesday 12:00 – 1:30 pm

Join Dan Clifton, for a look at the changing economic climate and the impact of the Presidential administration. Dan is a Partner and the Head of Policy Research at Strategas Research Partners, LLC where he evaluates government policy initiatives and its impact on U.S. and global economies, equity and bond markets for institutional investors. He served as a Federal Affairs Manager at Americans for Tax Reform and as a senior staff member for two gubernatorial administrations working on economic and fiscal policy issues. Dan and his team have been recognized by Institutional Investor magazine for the past seven years. His research and political analysis on the interaction between legislation, policy, and equity markets is often cited in the media, and he is a frequent guest on CNBC, Bloomberg, and Fox Business News.

SPECIAL CCM ONLY SESSION

The Mind of the 21st Century LeaderMarissa Afton - Director and Senior Consultant - Potential Project

Sunday, 2:45 – 3:45 pmFor Current CCMs Only

It’s not easy being a leader in today’s fast-paced, complex, dynamic work environments. Leaders need to maintain calm in the midst of daily storms. They need to remain focused in the face of a million distractions. They need to have clarity of mind to ensure they are helping themselves and their people concen-trate on the right things as opposed to just doing lots of things. In this session, Potential Project Director Marissa Afton, will share case examples and experiences of how and why companies are incorporating mind training as a foundational tool to support safety lead-ership, performance and effectiveness. This session will include guided instructions on how to mentally prepare for better leadership effectiveness and include case studies from leading companies in heavy industries such as construction, oil and gas, mining and others. Participants will get practical, tactical infor-mation, tools and techniques on how they can help themselves and their people enhance their safety and effectiveness through training the mind.

CMAA provides registrants with continuing education credits and CCM Recertification Points for each education and plenary session attended. In order to meet the varied formats for reporting mandat-ed education requirements to licensing boards, credits are identi-fied as Professional Development Hours (PDH), Learning Units (LU), or Recertification Points.

To receive LUs through CMAA, you must provide your AIA mem-ber number on all registration materials. Transcripts are available through www.AIA.org. CMAA is a registered provider of continuing education with the National Council of Examiners for Engineer-ing and Surveying (NCEES). Certificates are available through the NCEES/ACEC Registered Continuing Education Provider Program (RCEP) at www.RCEP.net. All attendance is reported based on the email address provided to CMAA when you completed your regis-tration form. Active CCMs can earn points toward recertification in accordance with the guidelines provided by CMCI.

Washington Hilton1919 Connecticut Ave., NWWashington, DC 20009202-483-3000

RESERVE YOUR ROOMCentrally located in the heart of Northwest DC, the Washington Hilton provides guests with easy access to the city’s most popular attractions while staying in one of DC’s coolest neighborhoods. The rooms and suites are designed with comfort and convenience in mind, providing a place to unwind or to catch up on work.

All reservations must be made directly with the hotel and are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Rooms are available at the discounted rate of $293 per night (plus applicable taxes) until the room block is full or until Sep-tember 15, 2017, whichever occurs first. CMAA encourages you to book your room early! To make an online reservation, please click here.

Rates: start at $293.00/single or double room; rates do not include local taxes.

GOVERNMENT RATE A small number of rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the government rate. The government rate rooms are for direct city, county, state or federal government employees. Inquire about these rooms with Noelle Borman (703.677.3370; or [email protected]).

IMPORTANT NOTICECMAA has received several reports that wholesal-ers (brokers, travel agents, who are not affiliated with CMAA nor the Washington Hilton) have been contacting attendees offering great deals on hotels for the CMAA National Conference & Trade Show. While it is not illegal for a travel firm or booking agent to solicit potential customers, it can be difficult to determine the legitimacy of offers from these organizations. Those who opt for alternatives to the CMAA negotiated rates may find themselves at risk. CMAA reminds its attendees that we have no affiliation with any of these room brokers/travel firms. The only way to secure hotel accommoda-tions at the CMAA rate is to book directly with the Washington Hilton.

CONFERENCE HEADQUARTERS & ACCOMMODATIONS
