Naturalness is the basic ingredient of this firmly Mediterranean cooking, simple and variegated at the same time, but most of all healthy and tasty: cacciucco of Livorno, pici senesi, ciaccia aretina, cantucci pratesi, bistecca fiorentina, peposo d’Impruneta, buccellato of Lucca or pecorino cheese of Pisa. The ability of endorse this territory has let its wines conquer six acknowledgements Docg, 33 Doc with five areas of production IGT and 14 “Strade del Vino”, ables to promote not only winemakers but also quality food, matching the appropriate wine to the traditional recipes. IGP DOP To exalt tastes, on Tuscan tables, extra virgin olive oil is always present, with 15.000 farmers who take care of olive trees and bottle 60 millions of kilograms of excellent oil every year. Then, a lot of Dop and Igp products: beans of Sorana, ricciarelli of Siena, lardo of Colonnata, chestnuts from the mountains around Pistoia; moreover, cheese, honey, cold cuts. Don’t forget the boar of Maremma, the beefs of chianina, calvana or mucco pisano cattles and the certified organic products. Beyond restaurants, wine bars and taverns, there are many fairs and events where it is possible to taste the best of traditional food: the festival of the white truffle of San Miniato (Pisa) and San Giovanni D’Asso (Siena), the Chianti Classico expo in Greve in Chianti (near Florence) or the boar festival of Suvereto (Livorno). You may taste a real love for life, which is a feature of Tuscany. In the region there are also many “Bandiere Arancioni”: acknowledgments that certify the ability to match a unique historical, cultural and natural heritage with a quality reception. The fishing formula, wide spreading in Tuscany, includes a boat trip, fishing time and the possibility to taste the fresh catch fish. A way to experience everyday sea life, learning ancient and sustainable fishing techniques, exploring environment and marine life, discovering coast beauties.
