As my time as Disability Workforce Hub Coordinator slowly draws to an end I often find myself thinking

about how far the region has come since the introduction of the NDIS, however I fully understand how

much there still is to do in this space. It's important to reflect on the size and implications of this scheme

and to give yourselves credit for keeping the clients as your priority, even with everything that occurs in

the background to continue delivering services. I do hope that I have been able to help and support you all

in someway shape of form either to gain employment, commence study, recruitment, expanding your

service delivery provision, or to meet industry needs with appropriate training, workshops and events

tailored for our region. My end date is scheduled for Friday the 6th of September.

With that being said, I am please to announce that we have finalised recruitment for our new Workforce &

Industry Coordinator (Disability), who will be commencing with RDAYMN from Monday the 26th of August.

You are encouraged to come along to our next provider meeting on Wednesday the 21st of August at 2pm

to welcome the new coordinator, and of course share a cuppa with me before I leave for my new

adventure! (further details regarding meeting can be found below).

The new position will coordinate and manage our new 'Skills to Support' Disability Care Pre Employment

Program. The aim of this project is to address high levels of unemployed and under educated jobseekers

in region, in a sector that is facing significant workforce challenges and a growing demand for skilled

workers. Program participants will be provided with a diverse range of skills, experience and support

across the Disability and Community Care sector to help ensure the region has a pool of work ready

people to meet the current and future workforce needs. The program will also support local employers to

identify and address their workforce development needs and promote career and training pathways in the

sector, with a view to delivering employment outcomes for interested job seekers.

In other news, Joby Connor and I have been traveling around our beautiful region again, capturing some

of our fabulous local Disability Support Workers. The aim of the clips are to increase awareness of the

various job opportunities available in the sector. This time we have Rachael, a support worker from

Regional Disability Support Services in Kadina. Supporting a loved one with Disability, Rachael is truly

passionate about the work she does and fully understands the importance her role plays in the lives of

others, which clearly shows in the clip HERE.

What an inspirational, rewarding industry to be a part of.

Keep your eyes peeled for who we will be showcasing next month! :)
