Assemblynovember 14th - november 16th

important information:

• delegates will be voting with clickers;• delegagates will be advised to sit closer to the aisles and community colleges within their region will be advised to sit together;• region vii meeting will be on friday, november 14th at 3:45pm in the room redondo• resolutions will be heard according to newly established priorities: region sponsored resolutions (3 max) ssccc sponsored resolutions (5 max) individual asos (no limit).

all publicity materials for fall 2014 general assembly were designed by hasun khan, external affairs senator for region vii and yana demeshko, communications officer for region vii!

general assembly planning committee generously gave out scholarships to all schools that applied!

UPDATESlegislative update:

a. SB 850 B.A. Pilot Program passed. Now community colleges can apply to offer B.A.s;

b. SB 270 Ban on retail plastic bags has been passed;

c. Prop 47 was presented to the SSCCC by UCSA Chair Kevin Sabo. This proposition would have California consider reducing the drug sentencing charges;

d. AB 1976: A bill to fluidly adjust Competitive Cal Grant B awards was Vetoed by the Governor.
