Please plan to attend your child’s conference on the early release days of October 14 and 15. The teachers are looking forward to meeting with you and sharing information regarding your child’s progress toward grade level standards. We love having our parents in the building and encourage all of you to attend. Please do not hesitate to contact the teachers regarding conference dates and times. Many thanks to PTA and all the families who attended the Chestatee Movie Night. The evening was beautiful and the event was a huge success. It is always so wonderful when the Chestatee family gathers for fun and fellowship. Speaking of fun, please plan to attend Chestatee’s Fall Bingo Night on October 29th. Again, sponsored by PTA, this is a night where Chestatee families gather to play Bingo and share in much fun and laughter. I’ll look forward to seeing you all there and to being the official caller! Finally, a special thank you to Advanced Disposal for their donation of $4,000.00. Their generosity has enabled us to purchase a wonderful math program that supports student learning at every grade level. We are all so appreciative of this business partner. As always, let us know if there is anything that we can do for you. Rebecca Johnson Principal, Chestatee Elementary School

Rebecca Johnson Principal, Chestatee Elementary School
Chestatee Elementary School is participating in a wonderful fundraising program called Cartridges For Kids. This program offers us an almost effortless way to raise money to support our projects and to protect our planet and we would like your help. We are recycling used cell phones, empty laser, fax, copier, and inkjet cartridges as well as, laptops, Palm Pilots, iPods, video games, GPS Systems, DVD’s and digital cameras for two reasons. First, we are trying to preserve our environment by keeping these harmful items out of landfills, and secondly, to raise funds for our school. The recyclable items that are collected are returned to Cartridges for Kids® (CFK). Chestatee Elementary is among more than 12,500 non-profit organizations nationwide that are helping the environment by recycling. How can you help? You can turn your “trash into our treasure” and feel good about helping the environment all at the same time. Most people have used cell phones to dispose of and almost everyone uses cartridges, either at home or at work. They come from fax machines, copiers and printers. By donating these used items you can assist Chestatee Elementary with earning much needed funds. We will have more details to come in our November newsletter.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Spotlight on Technology
Technology plays an integral role in the lives of Chestatee children
and their families. Please regularly check our webpage for
upcoming events and daily news. You are also given the
opportunity to sign up for the RSS Feed which will enable you to
receive emails every time anything new is posted on our webpage.
Simply click on the RSS Feed orange button located in the center
of the announcements window. Children are encouraged to visit
the Eagles’ Domain, found on the right side of Chestatee’s
homepage, to practice their current skills at home. Teachers have
been working on the curriculum pages for each grade level. These
pages are found under the curriculum tab and they provide
standards, resources, parent educational links, and other valuable
information. Parents are encouraged to sign up for Parent Portal in
which they will be able to access student grades, attendance, and
assignments. Please see Mrs. Donna Kirkland in the front office to
register for the portal. You will need your photo ID to sign up.
wanted to send out a thank you to the Riverstone Plantation
residents and business partners of Chestatee and LMMS
that helped collect about 500 books that were donated to the
Chestatee Elementary Library and 250 books went to
LMMS. Also thank you to North Ga. Lending and Donut
Connection for sponsoring the ice cream thank you party at
the Riverstone pool. She says they will continue this next
summer but encourage everyone to clear off their shelves
and donate books to the school library.
Thank you to Advanced Disposal for their generous donation to Chestatee Elementary. The funds given to our school have been used to support math instruction
at all grade levels.
Thank you for all the Box Tops that were sent in. The funds were
used to purchase call boxes on the playground. Please keep sending
them in!!
Many thanks to Ms. Donna Kirkland for making this happen.
Gentle Reminder: Please remember that all Forsyth County Schools are drug free and smoke free. We respectfully ask that you refrain from smoking when on school property. This includes when waiting in Chestatee’s car line or when in our parking lot. Thank You!
